That would be hard since the NCAA gives you the same amount of points we scored on monday

Excuse me...I know they don't award them but they acknowledge a much greater number.

didn't bama invent the forward pass?

also isn't this the strategy in nascar do something until they make a rule about it?

bama and nascar...kindred souls.

Integrating blacks into the south was more a byproduct of USC whipping their arse.

Go back and watch the ESPN special they had on this subject. Not only did Bear send players out to USC, but he also arranged the game against them. Bear Bryant helped to change things more than people realize.

No. But Don Hutson, an All-American end on the '34 championship team, practically invented the position of wide receiver. Is that just as good as inventing the forward pass?

I will take that as a complement.

Dissing NASCAR and Alabama in the same breath could be very damaging to your health.

Regardless, does the fact Alabama historically has had a good football program personally made your life any better?

Yes. I would not have attended and eventually graduated from there had the football team historically sucked. Much like Auburn's did in the '70's and LSU's did in the '90s. I'm not ashamed to say that attending a school with a succesful football team was an important factor in my choice of colleges. There is alot more to learn at college than just books.

Why would I have been in New Orleans? My team wasn't playing in that game.

I was in Atlanta on NYE cheering my team on.

It's been covered before but finishing the year 1941 at #20 in the AP but winning a national championship in another is pretty historic. Hasn't been done since if I am not mistaken.

Donald Montgomery Hutson (January 31, 1913 – June 26, 1997) was the first star wide receiver in National Football League history. He is considered by many to have been the first modern receiver.[1]

In his senior season at the University of Alabama in 1934, Hutson was a first team All-American for six different organizations and a second team selection by one other. After his career at Alabama, he joined the Green Bay Packers in 1935 and retired in 1945 after 11 seasons.

Hutson is credited with creating many of the modern pass routes used in the NFL today. He was the dominant receiver of his day and is widely considered to be one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, holding almost all important receiving records at the time of his retirement. As of the end of the 2009 NFL season, Hutson still holds the following records: Most seasons leading league in pass receptions (8), Most consecutive seasons leading league in pass receptions (5), Most seasons leading league in pass receiving yards gained (7), Most consecutive seasons leading league in pass receiving yards gained (4), Most seasons leading league in pass receiving touchdowns (9), Most consecutive seasons leading league in pass receiving touchdowns (5), Most seasons leading league in scoring (5), and Most consecutive seasons leading league in scoring (5) (Source: NFL Record and fact book).

Wow, that's awesome. I'm working on a cure for cancer, which I realize doesn't hold a candle to your awesome vocal cords. You go ahead and live vicariously through others and somehow claim credit for others' achievements.

Get real Pigg. I wasnt going to Harvard or Yale and I wasnt going to JP Tech either. Nothing wrong with either if your making an honest living, but I knew I was going to attend an SEC school in the South and get a common degree that wouldnt matter if it said UGa or MIT. I also knew that I wasnt concerned about making the deans list every semester either. I wanted to go to school and get a degree and have a good 4 or 5 years along the way. Something I did and I have to say '92 was a damn fun year. You cant sit there and say that having a good football team at your school doesnt contribute to some great college memories so dont act all high and mighty about how to choose your college. If you plan on being a rockit scientist maybe, but for the rest of us Joe Publics just stop it.

Doubt it. Got busted under Sherrill and we pretty much sucked at the time. I not sure we have the cheating thing figured out just yet.

Why stop at college football? Bama created an entire nation and will one day rule the world.
