How is Mark Richt still the HC at UGA?

Reading an article about the longest tenured coaches in the SEC (this is year 15 for MR) and he has only won two SEC Championships and they were both over 10 years ago.
No natty's, not a lot hardware to show and still the head coach of one of the most prestigious jobs there is. I could understand if it was one of the Miss. schools or A&M who have never won anything and would just be happy with winning seasons but not at UGA.
You would think with the amount of talent in that state he would have achieved more. It seems like it should be one of the programs where its either NC or bust every season.

Have you ever pondered the same thought about Les Miles and the mighty talent rich state of Louisiana and your mighty kittens could only win 8 games last season.
STFU.

STFU.

Probably because Todd Grantham didn't shite on their postseason bowl game and jump ship to another SEC east school.

I like my up vote/down vote ratio about even. Good job rant.

All I know is UGA always has really good talent.
They have owned our butts the last 10 years.
UGA always seems to have outstanding fullbacks.
I think with a break or 2 they certainly could have won a NC in 2002. Strangely, I think they might be the SEC team that benefits most from the 4 team playoff. They have had some really good teams that were not division champs.

LSU would have fired Miles if Mett had not shown up on his door step.

OP is the perfect example of the overall mentality of the new generation of college football fan that believes patience is a lost virtue. The "win it now at all cost" fan has replaced seemingly knowledgeable fans of my generation and the generations before. This exact way of thinking had a great program like Tennessee in the predicament that it found itself in for the last 10 years. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
To illustrate my point more succinctly, I will list; according to that line of thinking, coaches that should have been fired from their schools before their National Title came. Next to each coach is the amount of years it took for each one to breakthrough...
Tom Osborne -22 years
Joe Paterno - 17 years
Bear Bryant - 17 years
Bobby Bowden - 17 years
Lou Holtz -17 years
Vince Dooley - 17 years
Mack Brown - 22 years
Bo Schembechler - Never
All of this to say: Should fans of schools accept apathy? Of course not. But you don't just fire a coach for has a winning record against every SEC school save 1, has an 11-2 record against its biggest out of conference rival, and is top 5 in active winning percentage of coaches with more than 5 years experience. (5 years is when coaches get their own recruiting classes entrenched)
I know the responses are coming: Richt apologists, jaded UGA fan, this guy just doesn't get how modern day college football works. Do I give money every year to UGA athletics? Absolutely. However, I am not even 40 years old and have been a college football scout for part of my career as well as played the game on the collegiate and professional levels. Speaking from that side of the fence, I can unequivocally say that I have had the privilege and honor to meet and watch some of the best in the business coach their teams. With that, I can say that Richt does just as good a job, if not better than some of them at handling their respective teams. I firmly believe his championship will come in due time. And according to this list above of some of those coaches; if it comes in the next 2 years he will have done it on pace or ahead of schedule with some of the all time great names in the sport.
All of this is, of course, my opinion, but I assure you that it is an extremely level headed one. I just think college football fans should sit back and enjoy the ride more. What good is the destination if the journey was never any fun.

Because UGA fans accept mediocrity. 9~10 wins a season and Richt's job is safe

Your comparison between Richt and coaches like Bobby Bowden, Mack Brown, and Tom Osborne is like the dumbest comparison I have ever seen.
Florida State might have had the worst program in college football before Bobby Bowden showed up. Mack Brown spent the early part of his career at schools that nobody would expect to win national championships. He made North Carolina football competitive, and their football program has turned into dog shite since he left. I am pretty sure Tom Osborne never went a decade without winning at least one conference championship

IT fans are gonna be ok with mediocrity this year with 8 wins then tell us in the off-season how the next year they will win the east. In short, know your role homie, a UT fan has no room to talk shite about UGA right now, they are gonna prison rape your vols this year.

Most UGA fans already accepted loss @Knoxville this season.

I was already inclined to agree with your post but seeing that Auburnphan disagrees with you only proves the inherent wisdom of what you said.

i now feel even better about my position given that you constantly ridicule Auburn for being 2nd in our state, but you are apparently too dumb to know 99 percent of the country would still consider Auburn superior to your shite team
