You guys do all understand what endowments are, right? They are specific gifts for specific purposes. The gifts (corpus) cannot be touched. The earnings off those gifts are what pay for scholarships, projects, etc (whatever the endowments purpose is).

I honestly think the majority of people think it's just a big bank account the school pulls money from.

I am 90% sure Vandy's endowment is over 4 bill. Your numbers are suspect

University of Texas Endowment Tops $25 Billion, Passing Yale

I guarantee that number is too high. Oil prices took a big hit. But regardless, Texas definitely lucked up sitting on top of an ocean of oil and will only grow that number for the foreseeable future.

The OP asked, "How does your [school's] endowment compare?"
Princeton's endowment is 22.7B. 4th in the nation behind Harvard, Yale, and Stanford.

The Texas number in a few posts above is outdated (2014).

I believe the official source of endowments is the NACUBO LINK and their numbers match up with yours.

Here is the their list https://www.nacubo.org/Documents/EndowmentFiles/2015_NCSE_Endowment_Market_Values.pdf

This is the SECR version of building a fallout shelter. You have already accepted the impending implosion of aTm's football season?

Sad

Also, the Texas A&M's system endowment is actually undervalued here. Its actually 10 billion dollar. However, Aggies know thier endowment is total bullshite. The state of Texas is directly funding it through its Permanent University Fund.

Exactly. What sad is their main campus' endowment via the A&M foundation is impressive in its own right, without the PUF added. But leave it to the aggies to exaggerate.
