Alabama has won 4 of the last 5 SEC Championships. Auburn won the one year and it was a fluke field goal return that won that for them. Bama has totally dominated the SEC in the past five years. No one in the SEC is even close to what Bama has been doing. Your suggestion that if you took Bama out SEC someone else would replace them is miss leading. Sure someone else would replace them as champs. No one else would dominate the SEC like Bama has. I’m not merely talking about competition I’m talking about sucking the life out of this conference. Bama is mining and hoarding the SEC resources of talent both players and coaches for thier sole benefit. They are building thier program on the resources of other SEC teams. Just look at the depth of rotation Bama has compared to the rest of the sec.

Other than the Alabama factor, expansion was the death knell. Never should have happened.

UGA says hello, the SEC has the top two teams in college football this year. There was about a two year lul at the top of the league with UGAs transition and the decline of LSU in Miles last couple seasons and that’s over. You can’t take 2 out of the 10 seasons Saban at Bama has been a contender and say those 2 seasons outweigh the other 8 you just can’t. This is typical LSU fan Saban derangement and obsession and it’s not real.

TV has leveled the playing field a lot. There are programs like Tennessee who will never be what they were in 90's because of tv and then there are programs like Arkansas who were crushed by conference expansion.

UGA hasn’t beaten Bama yet and probably won’t. I’ve never mentioned the last ten years, I’m talking about the last five years. We are talking about the SEC as a whole loss of quality. The period of of SEC greatest strength was between 11 to 5 yeas ago. Over the last 5 years Saban has taken Bama to an elite level in the SEC and totally out classed everyone else in the SEC. The SEC’s decline has been over the last 5 years coinciding with BAMA’s ascension to total SEC dominance. Bama is a darkness hanging over the sec sucking away it’s life source.
Urban and Franklin heading to the Big 10 a coincidence, I think not. It will be interesting to see where Mullins goes this year. It’s not a coincidence that Cosch O got the LSU job. No one else with a pulse wanted it.

It seems to me now would be a good time for a rising coach in the SEC. Saban is a lot closer to the end of his career than the beginning.

I can't put it all on Saban. Saban lost the national championship in 2014. Changed his offense and hasnt missed a beat. The SEC is lacking in coaching quality and QB development. The offenses are mostly uninspiring.

The last 5 years Teams like A&M with Manziel have been the best they’ve been in 30 years teams like Miss state have reached number 1 in the country, Ole Miss beat bama twice and got to the top 5 Auburn played for a natty, Missouri won back to back east titles, so did Florida. This narrative just isn’t true.

That fact that Missouri and a weak Florida won the East back to back only illustrates how bad that division has been.

Even during that time the conference in general was still strong because of the West. But this season specifically the conference as a whole is the worst it has been in 20 years. Thankfully Smart has Georgia on what appears to be an elite level or we would be a complete joke.

Missouri going 23-5 with 7 wins over ranked teams in their two east title years isn’t weak.

You’re entitled to your opinion of course but the facts don’t match the narrative.

Well good time for O to win 3 out of 4 and get a bowl win. 10-3 even with the troy loss would be one helluva turn around and I think the staff would kill it on the trail. We need to show recruits we are still the team to challenge Bama they all can't go there so Lsu would be the next best thing. With 20 freshman rolling into sophomores w/ the experience & another year of S&c and development and the right needs filled. We would have a lot of momentum going into next year. If O is ever gonna get it done nows his time.

Missouri’s performance wasn’t weak, the rest of the division was. But you’re smart enough to know that. You know that in most years since the SEC expansion in 92 the East winner was a legitimate championship contender or top 5/10 caliber team. For the last several years it has been a matter of who sucked the least. Georgia has really been the only exception to that.

Well there’s always been some imbalance between the divisions so this is nothing new. These Missou years you’re knocking included 11-2 USC and 10-3 UGA so the east wasn’t as weak as you keep saying it is. Again I agree that last year and the year before the league has been slightly down but you’re labeling the league weak by using outliars instead of the actual facts. 2 previous down years don’t supersede decades of dominance and what’s happening currently. We have the number 1 and number 2 teams in the country they’re from opposite divisions and 2 other ranked teams. And when you see the top team in the ACC losing to Syracuse plus FSUs season, Iowa state beating the top 2 teams in the big 12 (one as a 30 pt underdog) and what’s happened in the Pac-12 with their top teams getting blown out by dogs, i just don’t see how you can say the SEC is down.

Nobody said the SEC was down during Miles first 5 seasons, the worst 5 year stretch in SEC West history.
