Don't listen to these frickers go to the cotton district(where some of the bars are) and the downtown where old venice mugshots zorbas etc are

Id say go to the cotton district the bars are good and if your really feeling adventurous go to the highlands there's always a house party and that's where cowbells is

This. Go to cotton district or downtown if you like the fratstar/sorority girl scene. Go to cowbells/ricks/hunt club if your more a honky tonk type and like bringing home those easy trashy whores.
Cotton district and downtown stay open until 1. Cowbells stays open until 3. Not sure about the hunt club i've never been in there.
Late night house parties will be at the houses on colonel muldrow in the cotton district or random houses in the highlands.
Colonel Muldrow is usually better for late night.

I'd give it a 5 at best. I've been twice (2005/2010)Met a few cool people who invited us to tailgate, but it's like being at a state fair, not a football game.

2.5; only place worse is Oxford. Look up your tailgate before the game. Remove your flags, magnets, radio antenna.

I'm from New Orleans and went to Mississippi State. Nothing compares to the Tiger stadium experience on a Saturday night. But I did like Starkville even back in the early 90's when the bars had to close down at midnight. I recently went back for my daughter's graduation from MSU and the place has grown. No way does it compare to Baton Rouge, Athens, or Oxford for that matter but you can have a great time there for a football weekend. I would give it a solid 5-6.

Of the 12 SEC schools, Starkville has to be my least favorite. The gameday atmosphere is boring as hell. If cowbells were banned the place would be silent. The campus is decent but just plain looking. For a Thursday night, it will be even worse though. I give it a 3

I'd give it a 4. Ptolomy's is nice little bar. Women can be found but you've got to know where to look and are an easy shag.

We went for the thursday night game last year and I can honestly say you couldn't pay me to go back.
