I'm amazed they didn't move the location. I mean your school has a 1,262 acre campus, which is huge for the SEC East. I think only UF has a bigger one, at 2,000 acres. Most schools in the east, since they are generally older, are postage stamp sized.

Unless they tear down our old basketball arena and decide to give the baseball field to the softball team we won't be changing locations ever
The Athletic department has already talked about the high operating costs of Hearnes so maybe in the future they move the baseball team over here.
Another thing I noticed was the grass base paths, in the rendering it shows them changing them to dirt Jesus they couldn't even add that to the field cosmetically it would have made the field look a little better

Hearnes is twice as big as it needs to be. Knock it down and build a new indoor track facility and put a baseball field in the spot created.
Then again, that may be squeezing it into just as small a spot.
ETA: Then we need a wrestling/volleyball spot. Forget it.

I always thought they were trying to avoid using Mizzou Arena for non revenue sports so they could open it up to other events.
I guess if the costs of Hearnes are higher than the money brought in by additional revenue at Mizzou Arena it would make sense. Still need a spot for indoor track though.
ETA: Maybe tear down the basketball half of Hearnes and throw it in there, but I'm sure that brings up a whole different can of worms.

As an LSU fan, I'm continually grateful for all the room we have to work with. For those not familiar with LSU history, we are currently located on our fourth campus location. We started off in Pineville, with a guy by the name of William Tecumseh Sherman as our first Superintendent. We moved to Baton Rouge after the Pineville campus burned down, and we were housed for a time on the Institute for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind (cue laughter), then moved to the federal garrison grounds. Our present campus was dedicated in 1926. As a side note, LSU gave up land for the Louisiana School for the Deaf...the successor to the Institute for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind...on the southern edge of our new campus, at no charge. Debt paid.
If things had worked out differently, we might have been just another urban school with a small-footprint campus.

Mizzou has a large campus, but most as it should be is composed of academic buildings. There are areas where a baseball field could be built, but given the lack of support (partly athletic departments fault) I don't view them moving it anytime soon. All of the athletic facilities are located on the south side in the upper portion of this map and campus buildings on the north side

Just me playing around a little bit, but tearing down the basketball side could work. It wouldn't even hurt parking.

Question for Mizzou fans-
Would the expansion/renovations to Faurot Field be happening had you guys remained in the Big 12?

Not a chance the move to the SEC forced Mizzou to upgrade the facilities, the only schools with better facilities than Mizzou in the big 12 were Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma St. From game tonight

I think you're forgetting Texas A&M.

I'm not. Mizzou and Texas A&M were pretty equal honestly

Glad the move to the SEC is paying off.
