Is going from Ole Miss to Florida considered an upgrade or lateral move for Lane?

Downgrade, but only because Ole Miss is the premiere college football head coaching job.

To run the most storied program in college football is about as good as it can get. As long as he brings them the 13-15 win seasons Ole Miss fans are accustomed to, he'll be there for life.

No team has achieved more during this new era with NIL and the transfer portal like Ole Miss. Not TCU when they flipped their entire roster and made the national championship game in 2022. Not FSU when they had an undefeated season in 2023.

Ole Miss is set for sustained success from here on out. Just look at how those lesser examples have been able to keep the train chugging along using the same model.

What's to prevent Kiffin from decommitting with a hilarious tweet after Billy is fired?

I agree that it's anyone's game now. Whoever spends the most money wins. In cases where two teams bought similar classes, coaching will matter. Other than that, meh.
