I remember when certain parts of our fan base thought this was cool when Butch Jones was “the most followed coach on Twitter”. Meant nothing. Pretty sure it came out he even bought Twitter followers.

We had Mike for basketball who was a sweetheart but kinda boring. We had Chad for football who tried and almost succeeded at sucking the life out of the whole fanbase. So excuse us if we are not put off by our hyper and somewhat silly coach who likes the twitter and our other sweetie who likes to say yessir. It’s COVID year, I’m all for the positivity and energy in this otherwise drab existence we are having to endure.

I mean it's not like Butch didn't recruit well. I agree it's one of those things that can be used against a coach if you're losing though. Just like if we were winning a lot under Morris I doubt many fans would have had a problem with him leaving on Friday nights to watch his son play lol.

I’m not hating on him for being active on Twitter. Just the PR department bragging about that statistic which is pretty meaningless is the amusing part. Ours did the same.
I don’t think it helped recruiting. Butch had 1 good class that was built on Vol legacies and a good crop of instate guys. He also tended to go over 4 stars no one wanted vs 3 star guys with a great offer list. The rest of his classes were in line with what we get with any coach who isn’t on the verge of being fired.
