First of all, it was most likely an arrhythmia.


Second of all, it shows you that it doesn't take a hit to the head or neck to cause serious injury (though in this case, IMhO, there is some underlying condition that is the main factor, as that hit was not significant).


Third, that hit was not targeting either.


Fourth, football is a violent game. As long as there is tackling, blocking, and the largest, strongest, fastest men in our society colliding on a regular basis, there will be injuries and even, very rarely, deaths.
