This cannot be said enough. 2024-25 schedule was brutal. Other than trading Arkansas for LSU or Oklahoma, there was not a way to make it worse.

If we had Kentucky and Auburn on the schedule this year like normal, we'd be looking at an 8-win team.

We played four playoff teams last year and two more that were a win away from making the playoff. This year we played three playoff teams, and possibly a fourth if Texas makes their way in.

Next year we get Kentucky, Auburn, a Pavia-less Vanderbilt team and South Carolina on our schedule and get to drop A&M and Texas. The schedule is anywhere from +2 to +4 wins next year.

I don’t think we play Kentucky next year but we get all of the other three, yes. And we’re fortunate to have five league home games next year, with four of them being Vandy/Mizzou/Auburn/Oklahoma, which I perceive as winnable games. The SC game is on the road so that will be tough, but you’d think State can compete at the very least. Bama at home + trips to Baton Rouge, Austin, and Oxford seem like probable L’s, but we will see.

That Week 2 road game at Minnesota next year is going to be an early must win for it to be a good season, IMO.

But obviously really tough to forecast anything for anyone this early before the portal opens up.

What are you smoking? Why do you think MSU will be a top 10 football team next year?

Yes. Cardiac kids. They never quit believing they can win. Kirby has done great job.
