yeah leaving the ball up in the zone, usually means you are getting tired, he gave up 3 straight hits to start the 8th, good sign the pitcher is tired. Like I said, have no problem with him starting the 8th... With a chance to get a quick inn...but once the lead off runner gets on, the coach should never force the issue and leave him in (which he did) to where he can actually suffer the loss, especially well over 100 pitches.
Not to mention leaving him in to face a guy that's already bombed his arse once before, plus going thru the line up that another time, 4th and 5th time, is usually not a good thing. Time to give em a different look.

I said Stratton needed to come out after the lead off guy got on to start the 8th. Now sit down and shut the frick up.

Cohen said in an interview last night after the game.......
"You can't make those(bad pitches) mistakes in our league, and we did. The guy who's been our closer(Caleb Reed)we did not go to, because he threw 25 pitches on Wednesday. We really wanted to get it to the ninth to bring him in."

quote:Stratton made a mistake no doubt. He could have made the same mistake after just 20 pitches. Cohen gets more criticism for having a quick hook than leaving someone in too long - that's my only point. I wasn't there and I didn't hear the exchange between Cohen, Thompson, Thigpen and Stratton. I assume Stratton was OK to continue or they would have pulled him.

The excuse of throwing 25 pitches in the middle of the week is a little stupid IMO.
We use pitchers multiple times in a weekend. They always have good stuff the next time they pitch.
Having said that, watch Sanburn go out and walk in the winning run tonight.
Anyway, I just thought that was a pretty lame excuse on Cohen's part.

Pallazone (UGA) gave up a HR against Florida in the T8 and Perno left him in. He was right around 100 pitches. Pallazone got them out of the inning. Georgia needs to fire Perno as well, I guess.

Strat was trying to get the guy to climb the ladder and throw it by the guy. He didnt get it where he wanted it- but it was high on purpose
Bad pitch
Bad pitch

Yeah that tends to happen when your starter is still in game at 115 or so pitches.

quote:Oops. Can't fire Perno this week after leaving his starter in going into the 8th and leaving him in after giving up a HR. Georgia won the game. I guess the coaches know their pitchers way better than most casual fans.

Alabama lost series to Tenner-see
Win here would put us in first in this division.
