He was initially unsuccessful, though he was instrumental in the founding of Clemson University as an agricultural school. In 1890, Tillman took control of the state Democratic Party, and was elected governor. During his four years in office, 18 African Americans were lynched in South Carolina—the 1890s saw the most lynchings of any decade in South Carolina.
Yikes.
And yes, Tillman is a girl, that little bitch.

Great comeback, Chauncey.

The same architecture firm designed both buildings, the Tillman Hall at Winthrop, Tech Tower at Georgia Tech, and other clock tower buildings.
Tillman doesn't look similar to Samford except for brick and clock tower. Samford has two towers and isn't symmetrical and the brick is more red.

Is that Tillman Hall, Tillman Clock Tower? Named after that evil racist sheephumping frick that you taterheads worship?
Wanna share some links to some of the web posted articles about Pitchfork Ben Tillman ... Tillman?
Lemme know.
Using his name as a username is paramount to using "Hitler" or "Dahmer" or "Mao" or "Stalin" imho.
SC has buildings named after Wade Hampton and Strom Thurmond.
Clemson can't erase history. Tillman pushed for a separate agricultural school in state and for this reason was named one of the first trustees of Clemson. Keep in mind that Thomas Clemson only met with Tillman one time, and in Clemson's will, he did not mention race or gender requirements to attend Clemson, which was unusual at that time.
I have no problem with the name being changed but the trustees make that decision. I have proposed Watson-Renfrow to promote racial unity.

I think CLemson's campus is better. Auburn's campus kind of seems like a collection of middle school buildings and it could use more trees. The front part with Samford is is very nice though.
I never understood why Clemson gets compared so much to Auburn. I think it is more similar to UVA and Va Tech, kind of a mashup of characteristics of those two. I would say it is kind of mashup of UGA and Miss State just looking at SEC college comparisons.
Looking at all those bollards at Auburn would eat away at me.

Your Google maps is outdated. Auburn's is infinitely better.

why does a bama person white knight for state rival's campus on here. lol
Clemson has more trees and larger hardwoods.
Clemson has a reflection pond with fountains, Auburn has no water feature.
Clemson has a much better outdoor theater. Actually two of them, if you include the one in the SC Botanical Gardens next to campus.
Clemson is next to a large lake and you can walk/run on these massive dikes next to the lake.
CLemson has a golf course immediately adjacent to campus and part of runs by the lake.
Clemson is hillier and more interesting topographically.
Clemson has an experimental forest with bike trails and waterfalls near the campus to both the north and south.
Clemson's campus is more historic, on a former slave plantation that belonged to one of the south's most powerful politician, John C. Calhoun. Calhoun was vice president and actually lived at Fort Hill (Clemson) when he was vice president.

Bama may have more natties in football.
but Clemson wins a natty for the best campus and college town in the world every single day.
tuscaloosa will always be an ugly mill town next to a muddy river.
