We went from stability to a team recruited by Fulmer, coached one year by Kiffin and now looking for their new coach before they'd settled into the dorms. In hindsight, we would've been better of keeping Kippy Brown as an interim HC. AD Hamilton made a panic hire - the damn fool wasn't even in town the night Kiffin resigned.
Kippy would've been a smart move and one that could've staunched the bleeding and prevented things from going down farther but Mike Hamilton apparently loves hiring guys who have dad's who can coach instead of hiring guys who can coach themselves and went right back to that well to give us Dooley. I can't praise the Lord enough that Hamilton is gone.

IIRC, Carroll was still at USC and didn't take the Seahawks job until after the bowls. He couldn't take th sc job, then. You're right, though, had Kiffin left earlier, search could've gone differently

Yup. The timing of it all is what turned it into a disaster. And it's not like Mike Hamilton shouldn't have known. Everyone knew Carroll was going to leave and that when that happened the sanctions USC had coming made Kiffin a perfect target for them. Hamilton even said he'd discussed the possibility with Kiffin before it happened. Now you tell me how any competent AD doesn't have a better plan than what went down.
But hey in a few weeks Mr. Hamilton will frick up the Bruce Pearl situation, hire Dooley, piss off the NCAA and manage to turn the entire AD into one giant clusterfrick - because football being fricked just wasn't big enough for him.

Serious question. I heard Dooley was the reason behind Tennessee getting their new training facility, cause he pushed hard for it. I think that's a load of shite but if true, at least some good came out of it. Hell if you google his name and click on images. There is more pics of him in a hardhat walking around construction sites then coaching football.

thank god FSU and clemson played later that night. it eased my pain so much
and the fact that we are now embarrassed to play close to/lose to the volunteers shows a lot about the programs currently as well
