No underestimation--I've lived in SEC states and know how y'all roll. I promise you the yell leaders have seen and heard it all over the years.
I think watching the fringe fans' reactions will be just as entertaining.
I don't care how used to heckling your yell leaders are...it doesn't make the whole ordeal any less ghey.
I mean seriously...you don't think having a bunch of dudes dressed like milkmen running up and down the field yelling and dancing and cuddling each other is just a little "odd"?

I live in Houston and I've tried to give this fanbase a chance, but they've repeatedly blown all attempts to see their "traditions" as normal and appreciated. I despise cheerleaders in general bc I feel they are worthless to the game experience itself, but dudes dressed as hospital orderlies are even more annoying.
the only thing I'll give A&M credit for "tradition" wise is their band. That spectacle is badass.

If that's what they were actually doing, I'd find it odd, but I'm all for respecting other schools' traditions tbh. I grew up attending Aggie games so I learned a lot of the history behind it and don't have any more problem with it than "calling the hogs" at Arky or any other schools' unique traditions.
It does make message board life interesting though

This is THE main reason I like A&M's yell leaders--they actually serve a tangible purpose to the game experience. Cheerleaders don't actually lead cheers anymore. They're basically eye candy for TV and maybe the first 3 or 4 rows (nttawwt, btw

Agree--the FTAB is top notch.

Are you serious? Have you not seen the dozens of pictures posted on here of yell leaders doing flamboyantly gay body convulsions in front of of thousands of people at a football game of all places?
It has nothing to do with what their tradition is. It was just as gay looking in 1950 as it is today.
I'll happily call pigs or chomp my arms like a gator or ring cowbells before I'd have to sit there and watch a bunch of dudes dance and hug it out in front of me for the entire game.

Night games in the Swamp are crazy as well. We just don't get many of them. I wish we would in the early games though. Freaking too hot.

It has everything to do with it, but don't trip--you don't have to like it or anything. You keep calling your hogs, doing your gator chomp and all that, and we'll keep doing what we've been doing. It's all good.

Same with Kyle Field. Stadium is electric under the lights.

You've seen Deliverance then? That movie about Arkansas filmed in Georgia, you know the one?
According to IMDB:
quote:
Intent on seeing the Cahulawassee River before it's turned into one huge lake, outdoor fanatic Lewis Medlock takes his friends on a river-rafting trip they'll never forget into the dangerous American back-country
The Cahulawassee River setting is based on the Chattooga River that separates Georgia from South Carolina. No Arkansas places are involved. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Deliverance = Bulldogs and Gamecocks fans

Were you a yell leader? Do most of the students revere the yell leaders or find them "different".
I saw aTm play in the early rounds of the NCAA tourney and that was my first experience seeing them. At the time, I was too busy trying to figure out WTF they were doing/saying to even notice any gayness that either was or was not there.

No, was never a yell leader. I am a second generation Ag, though.

They're pretty high profile on campus--and they're revered by girls. Ridiculous the top shelf pussy those guys pull down year in and year out. Most students want the yell leaders to lead more yells than they do now, what with advertisements on the jumbotron and overscripting of gameday taking the crowd out of the game more nowadays.

Yeah, that's the usual reaction from opposing fans

I can agree with this. I was there for the State game 2 years ago, when most of your fanbase was pissed and the team wasn't very good. With all of that being said the stadium was by far one of the louder SEC stadiums that I've been in.

Did opposing teams give yall shite for it? Or were they just used to it?
I think for at least 10 years it will be constant. I can see entire student sections making fun of their asses.

Most were just used to it. Baylor would give us the most grief for it, but they've got their own weirdness going on, and most Ags wouldn't give them the time of day anyway

Go ahead--it's kinda funny to see opposing fans get all worked up over it. Promise you the yell leaders have seen that before, too.

Man, I've got so many road venues on my "must see" list when the Ags travel it's not even funny. JHS is right up there
