if uga was either in the north or liberal, it would have been aau a long time ago. aau is a worthless label so that shitty schools can say they belong in the same group as harvard.

also, give me an sec public education any day over berkeley, uva, or michigan. those schools are overrated because they discriminate against white males, force students to take diversity classes, and create "safe spaces." their rankings are total bullshite to get dumb yankees to attend those schools. uga, lsu, ole miss etc. provide just as good of any education as those schools. no student from an sec state should attend uva/berkeley/michigan over their local sec school unless they have a better scholarship offer.

UGA is pretty liberal especially compared to the rest of the state
Athens is one of the most liberal cities in Georgia

pretty sure a majority of the middle class/ affluent burbs in ATL are Republican people who generally have Republcan kids. atl kids are probably 50 percent of UGA's student body.

Athens has more liberals than many cities in the south but does not mean it is a majority.

now that UGA has engineering programs, it will become more conservative because engineers tend to be more conservative.

iowa state is in the AAU but it is only ranked 109 nationally in US News. Clemson on the other hand is ranked 61 but not in AAU.

if you compare Clemson, Iowa State, other land grants, they are virtually the same colleges with the same programs.

if i lved in texas, i would have gone to Texas AM or Texas Tech b/c they are viewed as the engineering/science schools in the state. Texas is viewed as the liberal arts school for hippie kids and Tracy Flick yearbook nazi types.
