I'm going to stay away from the politics but many areas of the country are reporting small numbers of participants in youth football and it is also undergoing bad press due to the injuries, especially concussions. These factors could spell trouble for the sport moving forward.

Yeah, it’s all about the kids and their parents. The people licking their cleats since they entered athletics and the millions of fans who worship them have nothing to do with it.

I think football is a dying sport but it has nothing to do with jersey numbers. 10 years in the NFL makes someone a feeble old man at 50. Football takes years off average life expectancy. As great as the game is and as great as the rewards can be, that's a heavy price.
