I don't feel like Texas would get the invite or get voted in. I also don't think they would want to be in the SEC. There is too much competition and the platform is too equal. They like playing with a rigged deck and like having unfair advantages over their opponents.

In my opinion our best bet would be to not add anyone. However, if it must be done I think it would be best to move Mizzou to the west (makes geographic sense) and either add Florida State or I also like Clemson a lot.

Bill Powers is absolutely right. Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, West Virginia (of all schools in the Big 12), Texas Tech, TCU are nationally renowned academic institutions themselves.

Yeah, make the SEC tougher so everybody has enough losses that they wont be in the top 4. Oregon, Ohio State, Big 12 and Notre Dame. It was dumb to add A&M and Mizz and dumber to add other teams that can play spoiler.

Hmmm.

This post is a challenge!

It's too late to do anything about A&M's inclusion, but you're right. It was stupid to add a team like them.
PAC Twelve: +Utah +Colorado
Where are those two teams since the move? Have they seriously threatened the PAC12 elite?
Big Twelve: +West Virginia +TCU
Don't pay much attention to non-SEC football, but I know West Virginia didn't turn out as expected. Didn't TCU's starting quarterback get suspended or kick off? Where do you see them?
Big Ten is a terrible conference. Nebraska is the most recent addition, but will they ever be a consistently strong contender for the Big Ten title?
Why would the SEC hurt itself? It's much easier for a very good team to go undefeated in the Pacific Twelve or ACC than it is in the SEC. It should be easy for those teams to sweep the Big East and Big Ten too. The SEC is still the greatest conference, but with 4 other joke conferences, the addition of a good team like Texas A&M could easily lockout the SEC from the title game several times down the road.

If the SEC expands to 16 teams, a nine game conference schedule will be mandatory. Anything less will render a conference champion illegitimate.

Did anyone mention that over the summer, all the SEC presidents voted that expansion would only be in new states? I am sure the vote would be the same now. No FSU, texas, clemson, GT, etc etc

UNC, Va Tech, OU/OSU?, NC State, and... who else?

It's up to the voting members isn't it? Unlike the Big 12 where all the decisions concerning the league are made by UT's AD.

Yes. Has to be an 80% majority vote by college presidents I believe. On this, Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia have already formed a pact to vote down any "2nd instate programs" from being invited, a group that I'm sure A&M is now a part of thus preventing Texas from ever, EVER getting an invite now.

They had their chance back in the day right along with Florida State. Don't feel bad for them now.

Texas would get in if they wanted. No question about it. A&M and maybe LSU wouldn't vote them in but that's probably it. Outside of Notre Dame, they're easily the biggest program out there still.

Not sure on this. My understanding is there is a gentleman's agreement among UGA, SC, UF not to expand in-state. If we vote against, I assume they would so as well (bc 3 votes are not enough to block any more).

Also, conferences, esp the SEC, do not like dissension in the ranks. If we openly do not want Texas in, I don't see the conference voting to do it. It's about money though and I'm a business man so I can be persuaded. Not sure the rank and file at A&M can be though.

My guess is if and when we expand it will be to blue water and will not open the doors to any states we already cover.

completely untrue. The 8 game schedule actually works better with 16 if you go to rotating pods but that's a discussion for another day

You are exactly right.

Not seeing what Texas brings to the table that A&M doesn't at this point either? We got the Texas TV market that we wanted already. Same with Clemson and Florida State. Sure, all 3 of those teams add alot in tier 1(national primetime game) value, but the big $$ is in tier 3. Thus, why those schools are actually less valuable to us fiscally compared to ANY 2 schools from NC and VA, which is why the next two teams will likely come from the states of Virginia and North Carolina...

Texas has more money than any other school in our conference as far as Athletic Dept budget and income and it isn't even close. However, I would not want to see both of these assholes in the conference at once. I would GLADLY get rid of those nagging arrogant arse Faggies for UT fan. At least they are somewhat civilized.

This is correct except I think Kentucky is also part of that deal to block Louisiville. (i could be wrong about Kentucky though.

states we probably will target for new members if this is true:

North carolina
Virginia
Oklahoma
Kansas

In that order in my opinion.

I know they would be a good fit in baseball. Relevant teams, good support, excellent facility, the Grisham connection with OM and MSU. In basketball and football, I'm not sure. Perhaps one of our Carolina/UK fans can shed a little light...

I'm kind of split on Va/Va Tech. I want Va Tech's football atmosphere, neither's basketball, and Virginia's baseball. You get 1 good sport and 2 lackluster sports with either program.

Of course, the crown jewel in all this is UNC. That may never happen, but NC State is looking like a viable alternative that accomplishes the same goal in the same vein as A&M. Would still love to have UNC though.

The only reason they're winning it this season is because Ohio State is ineligible. Also, they haven't been dominant this year either. They've got the Ohio State blowout loss, last second victory over 5-5 Michigan State, and a struggle against Northwestern.
