I don't believe there's a lot of kids in the SE wanting to be Aggies. Its kind of a special club.

Yea but here is the difference. Arkansas used to be able to recruit Texas in the SWC because you guys played in Texas 3 or 4 times a season. When you went to the SEC, Arkansas cut all ties to Texas and gave a Texas kid no reason to consider Arkansas. aTm will still play 7 to 8 games in Texas and those games are an easy drive for any parent from Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas.

Are you actually admitting that you have a hard time competing with the SMU, UNT, Tech, Baylor, TCU, RICE, UH and SFA's of the Texas Recruiting Football World?
Is that what you are admitting? Admit this: OU and OSU raped your shite. Care to explain that?

Where on earth did you get that from?
Our Alabama friend just re-posted the point I was making. Re read this thread and get back to us if you still don't get it.

Since we "lost our pipeline", we are 3-0 vs A&M.
And if A&M is counting on SEC coverage to boost their reputation in Texas, then it follows that Arkansas will benefit from that coverage, too. A kid in Plano/Frisco can be in Fayetteville in 4 1/2 hours.
The biggest hindrance A&M faces in recruiting is their weirdness. Their best years came when they were cheating their asses off.

you realize you'll be getting recruiting table scraps from the states of Mississippi and Alabama correct? You may pull a couple from LA because of proximity but the rest will be tough considering the stranglehold other SEC schools have on that area. Besides if A&M has to resort to recruiting those states it means in-state isn't going as well as it should be considering you're a Texas school.

Years 18,19,and 20 in the SEC you beat A&M.
Arkansas has done much more in the last 5ish years than at any time spent in the SEC. No arguments there. You seemed to have found your way until this whole Petrino thing happened....what a shame.

and despite all this we still manage to bring in more Texas kids than any other SEC school each year. I have to think with A&M now permanently in the conference that will only help us.

Young Lad, I'm trying to figure out how such a Flagship school in such a fertile recruiting ground WITHOUT US IN IT ANYMORE still manages to put up such fair to spare records. And how some school cherry picking to beat the band manages to go dry on you with regularity.
All you have to do is admit you suck. It's that simple. Just do it and I will leave you alone. Say it. SAY IT!!m8

I suppose AMU will suddenly learn how to recruit their honey hole located 3 hours from DFW/Houston/Austin/SA and most of East Texas? Because losing to Lil' Ol' Arky 3 straight is a mystery. How did we do that to those Big Bad Ags? Can we blame it all on Fran still?
The rest of the SEC just doesn't understand.
Texas "A&M" screams second rate and will always stay behind Texas in that state. Texas A&M has always had a branding problem and it continues to this day. Not to mention their coaching hires that fit their culture almost never pan out.
When the newness of the SEC wears off it will still be Texas "A&M". I don't know hardly any school with "Tech, State or A&M" which are powers.
V-Tech and Florida State do not have military image or weird tradition problems. Otherwise, Texas A&M would've been just as good as FSU or V-tech the past 15 years.
Black coach, pushing female cheerleaders, reducing the Crops image moving to the SEC etc.. There is a large reasons all of these have happened. The old way sure wasn't working.
Bringing a Texas school into the SEC helps Arkansas and LSU.
Mizzou has a much better brand than TAMU but they are geographically challenged.

For DFW you have a point...Arkansas is 4.5 hours, CS is 2.5 hours....but you still are missing the other Texas cities and southeast Texas.
As to the "weirdness", that is something blown up on message boards more than anything. What to know why A&M has sucked for 10-15 years?

My God. Could you imagine what DM5 and Felix would have done to you a few short years ago? 77-0 ain't shite to that arse kicking... Had we played since 2000, Aggy would likely be 2-9 at BEST

Why haven't you won the league then? I'm giving credit where credit is due, but OU has won the (shittier) conference title several times, and has a NC and title game appearances/BCS bowls in the last 10 years.
Don't get me wrong, I hate them more than Arkansas, but I don't think you should be comparing yourself to the Stoops era OU program that Franned us 77-0.

Things are changing at A&M. This new coaching staff is bringing in a new culture to the program.

Georgia Tech has more titles and is a better program historically than Arkansas.
Virginia Tech has owned the ACC
Florida State
Louisiana State
Ohio State
Penn State

Virginia Tech is one of the six U.S. Senior Military Colleges. In terms of the size of their Corps of Cadets, they are second only to A&M in schools that are not academies.

shite, they've used that tired excuse since Slocum got the boot.

Yeah, of the rips on A&M, the "no school with A&M or Tech in its name will ever win anything" is probably the worst.
3 years ago, you could have said that no school named after its town (Auburn) would ever win anything. Idiotic.

and all three of these are the biggest named schools in their own state and have little in-state competition from other schools.
Texas has 4 at least.
