quote:

You were arguing that walking on the MSC grass was never(in all caps) comparable to pissing on a military grave.

Its not. Just like shoving someone is NEVER comparable to hitting them in the head with a baseball bat, despite the fact both constitute battery.

quote:

I that they are both disrespectful to fallen soldiers, that they are comparable in that fact.

That doesnt make them compareble.

quote:

You disagreed. You then used a straw man tactic to say that they weren't not comparable.

You really need to learn how to properly use "straw man tactic"

quote:

Did I miss something?

Clearly. HEre's a short list:

1) You thought i was saying walking on the grass was not disrespectufl

2) You thought I was saying i would walk on the grass

3) you dont know what a straw man argument is

4) The way you use the word "comparable" is juvenile at best.

quote:

No. I don't think you were trying to piss me off, I think you were trying to diminish what the MSC stands for.

Thats even funnier then.

quote:

By making the claim that any Aggie that feels disrespected is an a moron for finding any similarity between the two,

See, this is you're inferiority complex kicking in again. I never said this.

quote:

you are diminishing what the MSC represents to those that care for it, and the personal value and honor they have invested in it.

Im really not. Im simply telling you you're a whiny bitch.

quote:

I think that is where you crossed the line, telling someone what reverence they should or shouldn't have for something.

Well considering i never told you what you should or should not have reverance for.....

quote:

But whatever, it is the Internet, I don't care, I got shite to do.

dude, you're clearly too dumb to logically formulate a list of things you should and should not care about

So pushing someone is just like walking on the grass? So since I don't agree with your analogy(straw man tactic) then I guess I am just too dumb to move forward.

This is why I'm glad I went to college, that I just can laugh at how silly and stupid people can be. It's really cute.

not agreeing with an ananlogy is not the same thing as your opponent using a straw man tactic. please, for the love of all thats holy, look up what a straw man argument is, so you may actually know how to use the term in the future.

This is why I'm glad I went to college,

So you can not know what a straw man argument is, not be able to practice reading comprehension or so you can learn that whining is the equivalent of making a strong argument?

He really thinks it's funny but i'm not entirely sure I understand how this thread makes us scared razorbacks....

I believe his usage of it normally is incorrect. We definitely aren't scared of A&M.

The hog itself though makes me laugh. When he posted it yesterday with the Aggie that had the "I'm gonna rape you eyes" it really made me laugh.

A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. [1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.

Did you graduate high school? We can do mix and match.

1. Original proposition ___
2. Superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition ___
3. Illusion of refuting a proposition ___

Answer choices

A. Pushing someone is comparable to hitting them in the face with a baseball bat.
B. Walking on the grass and pissing on a grave are both disrepectful, and are comparable in that fact.
C. Walking on the grass is NEVER comparable because pushing isn't the same as breaking someone's jaw.

Answer key
1. B
2. A
3. C

If you got it right, I would reconsider trying to get an education. You are smart enough to get a GED.

congradulations, you learned how to use wikipedia. Now, try to think a little deeper. A straw must attempt to misrepresent an opponents argument. Making your own argument is not misrepresenting your opponents argument. Let me repeat that for you, as you have made so many mistakes in reading comprehension that its very possible you will make another. making your own argument does not equal misrepresenting your opponents argument. Im not misrepresenting your argument and refuting them. I know you dont understand this, but try to find something with a touch more intellectual depth than wikipedia, then get back to me

Ironically, this is much closer to a straw man argument than anything ive made. Lets see if you can figure out why.
