In terms of "southern" culture UAB a better fit than ECU

Choctaw Hog - I live in Texas so I think it funny how you give A&M a free pass (and funnier that you, fan of an expansion SEC team yourself and one that hung with Texans for the majority of your sports program's existance, thinks yourself qualified to make judgments about SEC fit. You are still a relative newbie on your owon).
I mean really, the Aggies have a hardon for the SEC cuz you let them get away from Bevo's shadow, but they are still Texans. As a Piggie fan you know what Texans are like. They aren't Southerners and don't identify as being anything other than Texan, everything outside it is inferior and irrelevant to them. So I don't buy the culture part.
The football product? Meh, A&M has been far more mediocre/unsuccessful than Mizzou the last 8 to 10 years or so. Mizzou has beaten them 5 outta the last 6 meetings, been to way more consecutive bowl games, finished in the Top 25 more recently, been ranked #1 in the nation more recently, been to conference title games more recently, has a more stable coaching situation, I could go on. We are the better football product for the SEC to obtain right now, period.
If that leaves fluff stuff like "spirit" and "atmosphere" and so forth, then well whatever. A smart fan would take the substance over the style.

I assume you live in Austin? East Texas very much is Southern. And many Houstonians (my family included) have blood ties to Louisiana, or are from there to begin with.

Yet we still have more fans in the stands than Mizzou.

cokebottleag - yeah, and many Missourians in the southern part of the state have blood ties to Arkansas or Tennessee or Kentucky, but none of that counts on this board.
And I've very aware of East Texas. And that makes up a minority percentage of the Texas A&M student body and you know it. You are all Texans. Your students come from Dallas, San Anton, Houston, West Texas, South Texas, etc. The vast majority come from parts of Texas that are NOT at all any similar to this nebulous "southern culture" mystique on here. I've been to College Station many a time. To argue that it is more like Athens, GA or Lexington, KY or Oxford, MS than is Columbia, MO is a very, very, very tough sell. Personally I'd call it BS.
And you have more fans coming to see a crappier product and you are proud of that? Sounds like the definition of insanity to me. Our bad for not getting jazzed about underachieving Texas Bowl seasons like you do.
Look, the current SEC fanbases give you a free pass because you guys give them the fertile Texas recruiting territory, a ton of television sets and new revenue, an easy win every year for the SEC West. That's why you get your pass. But I have lived in Nashville, I've lived in Texas and I've lived in Missouri, and I've seen it all with my own eyes and nobody can pass Texas off as being more "southern culture" oriented to me than Missouri. No way. It's all BS on this board and the definition of "Southern culture" is constantly shifted here to meet their agendas of what they think they want. And they want your recruits and your money.

East Carolina is decent at baseball and they don't "wrestle"...

Stadium sucks. Purple is Richard Simmons' favorite color. You love flimsy mediocrity? That makes sense.

Do they have a grass end zone seating area, too?

Mad that if I go to a Mizzou game I might have to sit on rocks, yes.

Why is that your response?

What he's saying is, if you go to a Mizzou game, you can make a cave out of the rocks in the end zone.
