Lived in Lexington and worked in Carolinas for about 6 years. Great years. Great State, Great People.
They’ve had glimpses of greatness… well on their way to being a baseball powerhouse until they fricked it all up and made Ray Tanner the AD. Hey, we all make mistakes.
They’ve had some good football coaches …. Just well past their primes….even so, Spurrier owned Dabo for a good little while there…and Gamecock Nation was happy.
In football…if they lose every game but beat Clemson, for the most part, they’d take it….because it is a fun (for an outsider), serious, and underrated rivalry. (Army and Navy pretty much feel the same.). I think the fans care more about beating Clemson than being a serious SEC or national contender.
And the embrace of women’s basketball while the real sports burn and flounder…not a good look.
HS football there is not like other SEC States, either.
