It doesn't. It's a ranking in relation to other teams.
So, if you think a ranking is wrong you're argument needs to focus on the teams that should be ranked higher.
Right now, there's just not 3 or 4 teams that have had pretty dominant seasons like we've had in most recent years.
My thoughts, too.
And, people keep saying it is a down year. based on what? I mean....because the traditional teams are not at the top? I thought that is what people kept calling for? new teams in the playoffs. It might be that we don't have any dominant teams, but that means the mid tier and lower teams might be a better team.
The only other argument people can use is the eye test, yet people scream about not going by the eye test.
You can't satisfy everybody, so you got to satisfy yourself. Alabama is the #2 team because they deserve to be there.

It’s astounding how this board sucks up to bama. OP is 100% right but you have fans of almost every other SEC team crawling around sucking bama nuts taking up for them. So goddamn pathetic
