I agree there’s too much variability with no divisions. Divisions or pods would create more H2H between multiple teams.

quote:5 years tops and it’s gone
Its likely to generate even more revenue over the next couple of seasons when teams that ain't been it much if at all make it to the game. It is a big damned deal for the conference and unlikely to go away anytime soon.
With the uneven schedules most years at least 1 team is getting in by nature of an easy schedule. And they won’t even be able to say they're kings of a bad division, they’ll be kings of nothing. The prestige downgrade has consequences
It’s going to become a nuisance for the teams that get in there, having to put more film on tape against good teams and not resting / risking injury when teams 3-5 are on the couch getting healthy for the postseason. Plus the SECCG loser can get knocked out of the playoffs entirely with an extra L
It carries less relevance and prestige and is destined to become an afterthought. Half of the future SEC national champions are going to have a different SEC champion. It’s basically now an NFL divisional title - you’d rather win than lose but it’s a footnote. The only question left is how quickly it’s thrown out. Enjoy it while it lasts

But NOT having KY paired up with the state right below them makes as much sense as Mizz. in the East.

But some, like UGA & Ala., have multiple perm rivals.
