FWIW, fiancee (medical provider) says Nick Fitzgerald has an ankle fracture, displaced. Says he'll likely need ORIF (OPEN reduction internal fixation) surgery. (Plates and metals in ankle.) ~1 year of physical therapy. Possible nerve damage.

I hope he can recover and if not play again, at least have full mobility. That was very bad looking.

That looked just like my ankle a few years ago when I fractured my fibula and dislocated my ankle. My foot was completely offset from my ankle and rotated 90 degrees. I know exactly how he feels. When you just see it yourself, you just get a rush of pain and emotions. The most painful part after surgery was the firery sensation of the nerves trying to heal back after the damage. Reminds me of Tyrone Prothro injury against Florida in 2005. Hope Fitzgerald has better luck with recovery than Prothro did.
