Man you hit the nail on the head with that one. I found this on the SEC's website and it certainly goes to show that the SEC is eerily similar to last year.

According to their records, at this point last year, the SEC teams were a combined 78-47. This season, the SEC has "tumbled" to a 76-49 record.

Of course, I blame Tennessee for losing to UCLA and Wyoming for the records not being equal. You can also blame Vandy for not beating Duke and MSU for losing to La. Tech.

don't be an idiot. LSU, AU, Arky, and Tenn are all worse than they've been in at least 5 years. that alone is a pretty significant drop off, the rest of the conference isn't good enough this year to make up for that.

In 2005 Tennessee was 5-6. Auburn lost 4 games last year, and Arkansas lost 5. LSU has averaged 2.5 losses a year over the past 5 years.

As for the rest of the conference, Ole Miss is going to a bowl game since 2003, Vandy since forever. Florida is 2-3 wins better this year than last year, while Georgia is on pace to have the same record.

Speaking of Georgia, LSU got extremely lucky they skipped them on their way to the NC last season, especially in the SEC championship game. I don't care what anybody says, Georgia was the best team in the country at the end of the year, by far.

hold on, are you actually trying to argue that these teams aren't significantly worse this year?

Florida is better, UGA appears to be worse this year despite having the same record. OM and Vandy being better doesn't really balance out the teams that are worse. besides, the west this year is obviously significantly worse regardless of the overall condition of the conference.

And other teams in the SEC (UM, USC, Bama, and Vandy) are doing better! SO!

I guess wins are only valid if your name is LSU, AU, Arky, and Tenn.

If it makes LSU fans feel better, then so be it!

holy shite some of you bama fans are stupid. can you at the very least admit that the west is way down this year? i have a feeling that will be asking for way more objectivity than you're capable of..

you must really suck at math. LSU's past 5 seasons:

2003 -1
2004 - 3
2005 -2
2006 -2
2007 - 2

what is 10 divided by 5?

the sec is having a down year but nevertheless bama's schedule is not that tough. Georgia is the only tough opponent that bama had. but bama is the best team in the west without question,

I'll say the SEC is a tad bit down from last year. Way down, NOPE!

I was counting the losses this season, and you can add another one to that tally after getting killed by Ole Miss today.

14 divided by 6= 2.33

This kind of talk really blows my mind. Carpe diem. It's irrelevant if the SEC is down or not. If you win, you win.

We're not there yet? Never bullshite yourself out of a chance to win.

apparently you suck at logic as well as math. counting the losses from this season doesn't make any sense when you're comparing this team to the past 5 years. you fail again

Because the losses aren't finalized until the end of the season right?

you are totally missing the point. i said that this was the worst LSU team in at least the past 5 years and he responded by saying that LSU has averaged 2.5 losses per year in that time period so they weren't that much worse. but in this instance it doesn't make any sense to include the losses from this season. the two are being compared as if they are separate entities

I'll admit that the SEC is down as a whole this year but you can't overlook what we have accomplished so far. Some people keep saying that we're only #1 and undefeated because teams like LSU, AU, and UT are down. We have played some tough competition (mostly on the road) and it is very hard to win in this conference week in and week out.

Ark is down from last year but it's always tough to win on the road and the same goes for UT and LSU as well.

We have beaten 5 bowl teams (Clemson, UGA, UK, OM, and LSU) so far. 3 of those were away from home. IF we beat UF, that will make 6 so I wouldn't say that we've had an easy road as some are saying.

In all honesty Bama really only has one really solid win - UGA. Ole Miss is not bad, but they are certainly not a top tier team, esp when Bama played them. LSU is not very good this year. We know about Clemson. UK is mediocre.

Bama's strength of schedule is rated 94 in the NCAA. That is a very weak schedule anyway you look at it and Bama has not beaten anyone currently in the top ten and after LSU losing today, Bama will have only played 1 team in the top 25. That is really bad.

We will see whether Bama is a really good team when they play UF and then in their bowl game. I personally think UF will beat Bama by about 14 or so and I think Bama will get matched against a supperior team in their bowl game as they will still be ranked higher than they should and will be taken by the sugar bowl over UGA and I think they will lose.

Oh yeah, I am not counting AU out either.

Well I don't really care what our strength of schedule is because at the end of the day, we're undefeated and #1. I know our schedule doesn't look nearly as tough now but all that matters is that we've won EVERY game we've played so far.

No matter what happens from here on out, this has been a great season. If we beat y'all next week, we'll go to a BCS bowl which is amazing seeing as how we were in Shreveport last year.
