Of course it is. I think most LSU fans would admit we got lucky in a strange year.

With that said, I also think Bama's success has a little to do with the conference being down this year. But so what? The ability to win the games you should is underrated. Everybody focuses on the big games, but avoiding getting upset by Ole Miss or Arkansas is just as important. So Alabama deserves credit for that.

Last year, LSU skipped happily by UGA on their way to play a horrible Tennessee team (blown out by 6 loss Bama) in the SECCG. You guys backed into the MNC game with 2 losses after a perfect storm of top ranked teams losing in the final week. And luckily, you got to face the SEC's red headed stepchild in your own home state.

It is clear that the only reason you even made it to the title game is because Alabama was having a bad year and let you escape in the final seconds of the game in Ttown. See? Anyone can play this game. And anyone can look like a jealous sore loser.

Congrats, LSU, on your national championship season. Seriously.

No one is disputing this. No one with any sense, at least.

Actually it's not the only reason. You just listed 3 others.

McFadden and Felix Jones last yr in college football, the best UK team since the Lorenzen days, Auburn MUCH better, etc......

You are right it doesn't matter as long as you win, but I think he is talking about bammers love suck fest for Saban, he is good but he is still just a football coach, who had up and down yrs at LSU.

You forgot to mention that Florida was down, Alabama was down, and South Carolina didn't even make a bowl game. Alabama beat Arkansas last year with McFadden and Jones, as did 4 other teams. Kentucky won the same amount of games the year before and are close to repeating their win total this year. I'm not saying that last year was a down year, but the comparisons to this year are similar. To justify LSU's season last year, but scoff at Alabama's this year, is total homerism.

The only reason LSU and AU have been worth a shite these last few years is because Bama was on probation.

Even with Shula coaching, another 21 scholarships over the last 5 years would have meant a LSU loss at TTown last year.

Guess that is one notch you need to remove from Saban's belt...

I predict after Ole Miss beats LSU this afternoon, many LSU fans start thinking less about Saban, and more about why they are paying Les Miles the salary he's getting these days.

LSU wouldn't have won one if Bama hadn't been down.

Could Bama's success be a result of a down year in the s.e.c.? It appears the s.e.c. is top heavy this year. Florida appears to be the class of the league. Bama, a sound/solid football team. Georgia, average, l.s.u. average, ole miss average, everone else, not very good.
Why is it so hard for some fans to give another team credit? Let's just say, to make you feel good inside, that the SEC is down and awful this year. Has it ever been this way in the past or is this the first year? How many times has a team in the SEC in the last 50 years gone undefeated in the SEC in the regular season? If Bama can get past AU, which will be no easy task, they will be in very small company. Since 1980, Bama has done it 3 times (92, 94(Lost SECCG), 08 potentially) AU 2 times(93, 04), UF 3 times (91, 95, 96 undefeated in SEC play), UT 1 time (98), UGA 1 time (80). I believe that is it. So in 28 years it has only happened 10 times and 4 of those the team didn't even finish undefeated (UF 91, 95, 96. Bama 94). Going undefeated is difficult to do, as is proven in that Bama has only done it 10 times since 1945, LSU 1 time, UGA 2 times, AU 3 times, UT 1 time, Arky 1 time (Not in SEC in 64). So again as you can see, going undefeated is something that rarely happens. While the SEC may be down a bit this year, we have still beaten everyone in front of us. NO ONE else in the SEC can say that right now. Yes that includes Florida. Better team or not, they still lost. The national champions last year lost twice in this league. First to a 7-5 UK team, and then an 8-4 Arky team when, at the time, the BCSCG was potentially on the line. Spin it however you want, but winning in this league is tough every single weekend.

will he be 11-0 when Parker wilson, cody, andrea smith, rashard johnson, javier arenas, and antoine caldwell are all gone?
We do not lose Cody and Javy this year, but to answer your question, he replaces Smitty with Massie, Rashad with Barron, Caldwell with Barret Jones, Javy, when the time comes, with BJ Scott, Cody, when the time comes, with Chapman and Dareus, and JPW with McElroy, Jackson etc. Like it or not, we are beginning to stock up tremendously talented players, something Bama has not seen in years, which leads me to the last point.....

Bama fans have been saying Les Miles was winning with Saban's players for years now, so don't expect any olive branches on an LSU message board.

Most LSU fans, along with most of the country, believe Florida is head and shoulders above Alabama and the rest of the SEC. Beat Florida or deal with it.

So if UGA finishes the year 10-2, that's average?

Les that means their MNC last year with 2 losses was average

You would think lsu had 12 MNC

It would make us LSU fans feel better about ourselves if Bama's success is a result of a down year in the s.e.c.!!

BAMA's success is based on the fact that we are building an animal in Tuscaloosa, but I do agree that we are not there yet and the SEC overall is down.
