LSU and SC made this board care about Womens Basketball. Just look at the number of WBB threads started by non-LSU fans over the past month.

I wasn't around pre-Dawn Staley on this board, but I live in South Carolina and I never remember anyone caring about Womens Basketball until she made SC relevant in the sport. She arrived in 2008 and didn't get SC going until more like 2012 or so.

South Carolina was very relevant in women’s basketball in the 70s and early 80s under Pam Parsons .... ask Kim Mulkey, who faced the Lady Gamecocks a couple of times as a player while she was at La Tech (I think it was). We knew who Mulkey was back then as a player.

There was Old Dominion, Tennessee, La Tech, So Cal, South Carolina ... what screwed us up for awhile was Pam Parsons and one of her players scissoring. They're still together to this day over forty years later and all that, married even, but still.
