I actually feel bad for the rest of the SEC…someone just gave Tony Vitello and the boise some extra motivation (as if they needed it).

You know Cinderella teams are only a 1 year thing, right?

I feel like State is ranked about right for preseason. Too many unknowns and hoping for pitching. Outside of Bednar we were not dominant with starting pitching last year either so you never know. Hopefully a couple of guys step up and secure Saturday and Sunday.

Offensively we lost our two best base hit guys and Tanner Allen’s clutch factor. However, we return a much more powerful team. I’m not sure how that translates in Omaha. It seemed like this year home runs were pretty significant but if the wind isn’t right we could go there to die.

There are 6 guys in the lineup that could/should be double digit+ homerun guys. James, Tanner, Hancock, Cumbest, Clark, and the huge 2B transfer RJ Yeager. If we can have a young guy or two develop and be one of those base hit guys we could be really dangerous.

It will definitely have to be one of those Moneyball situations where we won’t 1 for 1 replace Jordan or Allen but top to bottom our lineup could improve.

Defensively we should be better across the board for the season. You can’t get much better than we were in Omaha.
