The point was simple offense can still be very good, it wasn't a knock on him, it's just:

1. A very easy transition for MSU since they already were a shotgun spread offense

and

2. It's a simple offense with not a ton of plays in the playbook. The QB looks over to the sideline a good bit to get direction before calling a play, when you run tempo, the playcalling gets extremely simple since you're set on a formation

It's not difficult to install or learn

In our case, we are having a HUGE shift in offensively philosphy, installing many different new formations we never even used before as well as totally different play concepts. Naturally, a transition will take much longer.

Despite how simple Moorhead's offense is, it really helps moving a team very well setup to run it already. If he went to Georgia Tech, the transition would be a bit rougher and take more time. Obviously.
