Feeling pretty down about all this NIL, transferring, conference expansion, media money grab, piped-in rap music shenanigans every program is falling over themselves to pursue, I was reminded UGA has had some pretty unique culture carriers through its history.

Names like Larry Munson, but also Lewis Grizzard, Jack Davis, and Leonard Postero, all of whom captured the zeitgeist of college football we hold treasured in the memories of our youth.

These guys made UGA football special, but, really, contributed to make all of college football special, while continuing to wear their homer affiliations on their sleeve in their professional lives

What other folks would y’all offer up that add to the richness of CFB but have definitive ties to one school, and they display it?

• Announcers like Keith Jackson and Lee Corso
• Comedians like Jerry Clower and Jeff Foxworthy (?)
• Writers and artists like Spencer Hall, Ryan Nanni, Art Evans and heck, the SEC Shorts folks
• I’ll even give a h/t to sideline groupies like McConaughey and Will Farrell that have brought CFB to folks beyond the fan bases

I always loved Leonard’s Losers.

It was like a cartoon battle you could visualize in your head!

You should have at least one more loss to be making off season threads like this in early October.

Absolutely. I can’t believe Georgia cornered the market on these creatives that really made college football what it used to be.

Surely some other school can point out some folks like this?

Or I guess I really am spoiled by how much more specialer Georgia football is than any other program

I don't miss the days of wondering whether or not Georgia would be playing on television that Saturday.
