It was a screen pass to King where Coleman wrapped Kings legs up and as he was falling down Alem, who was trailing the play put him into the ground. If King wasnt falling, Alem wouldve hit him in the chest. It was a bang bang play just like everything else in football. Not unexpected that Bama and Ole Piss fans would making asses out of themselves without even knowing the situation.

is this the play where karnell laid king out?

that was later, I think right before AJ's TD. when I heard on the radio that King had been hurt, that's the play I thought it happened on.

He ran a play for no gain just prior to Green's TD. In fact, he carried the ball several times on the drive. The only big hit I saw was by 37; not 84. Dunno...

Sorry, I don't whine about penalties but if that is not spearing/leading with the helmet I don't know what is. He had obviously launched himself toward King and his facemask is pointing directly down. His eyes are not up so he has no idea where he his going to make contact with King which appears to be directly into King's chin. It is just this kind of play that could kill or injure a player for life which is why there is a rule against spearing.

You are a total dipshit. You are coming to a conclusion based on a picture from the BACKSIDE! Hell he could be as far a foot away from the dudes face. Show me live action from the front or side and then well make a decision.

OK, first let's assume I am a dipshit, no problem. Second, let's also assume that his helmet is a foot away from King's face (which is ridiculous considering the proximity of the two players) but that's fine. Regardless, Alem has obviously launched himself toward King with face down leading with his helmet which is a spearing posture even if no contact was made which obviously there was; King has a broken jaw.

...and how do you know that from a single picture? He could have tripped and was falling down.

Davesdawgs, it so obvious that you have never played football--you need to stick with piano concerts.

Not yet....if someone can narrow it down to when it happened, I'll grab it.

Update: BINGO!

Off to find it if I can

OK, I guess that's possible but from the pic it doesn't seem likely again due to the proximity of the two players, Alem and King. What I mean by this is Alem's feet are together like they might be in a dive from a diving board and his back is arched with his right arm outside King's body as in a tackling position. When you trip, your body would normally be sprawled with your hands and arms down to catch your own fall.

OK, maybe I am reading too much into a single snapshot. I certainly agree that multiple action shots from multiple angles would help.

Appreciate the "You are usually smarter than this" but I guess not so in the case.

leading with the helmet...

+1

Dumbass tackle. Noting a little numbness in the extremeties won't cure if he keeps it up.

Tackling overall is a lost art IMHO.

Nice work, arrakis. The video confirms what I saw in the snapshot, Alem was spearing, that is launching himself at the runner with his head down with the top of his helmet directed at King; in other words using the helmet as a weapon which is why the rule was created. King is lucky all he has is a broken jaw; it could have been worse....
