Do you hear that echo? It's Vanderbilt and UK yelling into the cellar, laughing down upon the doormat of all doormats. The participation ribbon of the SEC

Butch Jones coaches at Tennessee, once a premier program, with a long history of winning.

The program was in an awful state when he arrived. Both coaches have faced difficult schedules, Mullen being in the West and Butch having 6 top 10 teams on the 2013 schedule.

Going forward, obviously coaching at Tennessee gives Butch a large advantage over UT now that the program has the talent to compete. But that wasn't the case at the beginning of his tenure.

Let's also keep in mind that MSU has the easiest OOC schedule, year in and year out, so they're basically assured 4 wins. Plus they get Kentucky as their permanent East rival, another easy win. They also got Vandy in 2014. That's 6 wins before the season even starts.

Now, in 2014 they did have to beat

Auburn
Ran QB draw against a pathetic A&M
Arkansas before they woke up
And dickstomped their way to squeaking by LSU

Credit for winning 4 games in the west, and doing something that Ole Miss has NEVER done (winning 10 regular season games), but that #1 ranking was only because the Seminoles played an even easier schedule and the media was upset with Jameis Winston for "frick her right in the Pussy".

I'm the real Coach34. The other is my alter ego laboratory experiment that got out of hand. Similar to Buddy Love from the Nutty Professor. My ultimate goal is to eradicate the Elitedawg impostor and return home to my family. These are the end times. I shall leave no stone unturned

Ole Miss did everything they could to win a SEC championship. They gave away drugs, money, cars, strippers, aids, etc etc. The best they was beat the National Champion in a meaningless game.

Correct. Lets further divulge into their historic 2014 run, shall we?

The march to the first #1 ranking in the college football playoff poll consisted of:

3-9 Southern Miss
6-6 UAB
6-7 South Alabama
8-5 LSU
8-5 A&M
8-5 Auburn
5-7 Kentucky
7-6 Arky
Tennessee-Martin

Now that's how the cards unfolded in order to obtain the coveted #1 spot, but let's not act like this was some unprecedented ascension to becoming the best team in all of football. The story-book, most incredible season in Mississippi State history was a culmination of luck, mediocrity of usual contenders, and piss-poor scheduling. Nothing more. The heartwarming Dak Prescott storyline is precious, but when looking back on your magical season, ultimately this is what you'll all remember

Thank god we don't have to run the gauntlet they call the SEC East every year.

I am glad there wasn't a Memphis scheduled in there.

Way to blow your one and only chance at going to the SEC Championship game last year. That Arkansas game was a thing of beauty.

Right. You'll just have to keep scheduling the likes of Tennessee Martin, South Alabama, UAB, Massachusetts, Samford, etc. while Ole Miss and UT link up with Florida State, Oregon, UCLA, Boise State, Oklahoma, Texas, etc. on the OOC slate. All Dan Mullen has to do is anually defeat UK and one down team from the West to solidify a bottom tier bowl bid and appease the Mississippi State faithful.

7-8 wins a years while making 4+ million dollars while going 2-29 against ranked opponents and keeping everyone happy. Dan Mullen has the best job in America

Let's not pretend that Ole Miss has any of a more daunting upcoming non conference schedule coming up....

Ole Miss plays - Florida State, California, Georgia Tech and Wake Forrest

State plays - BYU, Kansas State, NC State and Arizona

You also play Vandy as your East Opponent. You play the same strength of schedule as State plays.

The best player in Mississippi State history, Dak Prescott, sprinted out to a standing ovation in Davis Wade Stadium on that frigid November night. Not a dry eye in the house as Bulldog fans - young and old, reminisced on just what the young man meant to the program. The trials. The tribulations. The ups and the downs. Throughout it all, Dak had his Mississippi State family. They loved him as one of their own. Very rarely does one particular player relate to a fanbase such as Prescott did with the fine people of Starkville. For the very last time, the legend, Dak, suited up to give his all for dear old State.

Then a corrupt coach who masquerades his sliminess behind religion along with his assault rifle wielding, habitual trouble maker of a quarterback, waltz in and spoil the sendoff. That is the note that SEC great Dak Prescott left on. Poor kid. After all he's been through. He deserved more.

He deserved so much more
