He gave us our worst D EVER with NFL talent and you think he did better than most UGA fans think? Shhheeeeooott.
Yep. Some Uga fans wanted a scape goat for 2013 and they chose grantham. You act like the other years didn't happen, and you ignore factors that led to our 2013 d struggles.

Grantham was better than many Uga fans claim.
How so? He produced statistically THE WORST DEFENSE IN SCHOOL HISTORY. That's not opinion or conjecture, it's a fact. THE...WORST.
Grantham is the reason we lost the 2012 SECCG and missed out on a national title. The only reason his defenses looked good for a brief time is because we were absolutely loaded with talent. When sanders commings got to the NFL, he said that the playbook at UGA was twice as big as his one with the chiefs. Grantham didn't realize 19 year olds shouldn't have to be able to (and literally couldn't) devote as much time to learning things that NFL players do. He was a pompous self righteous turd.
Although, I will always have a soft spot for him for the choke signal and almost fighting franklin. I loved that.

Trying to compare sec 2013 to sec of just ten years ago, much less 20 or more, is silly. Relative to our competiton, the 2013 d was not the worst.
Trying to lay all of the blame in that game on one side of the ball is as well.

Please show me where I did that. I'll spare you some time...I didn't do that. Grantham's defenses don't have a damn thing to do with the SEC of 20 years ago...I'm not even sure where you pulled that from?

Read. Please.
I never mentioned our competition. I mentioned us. UGA. It was the worst D in school history.

we averaged 37 points a game. In the 5 games we lost, we scored 35, 26, 27, 38, and 19 points. That's an average of 29 points. If you're scoring 29 points a game in your losses, the offense isn't the problem.
As a comparison, BVG gave up 30 points ONCE in 4 years. Grantham gave up 8 in 2013 alone.

When you mention history as you did, you are comparing recent to distant past, which includes 10-20-30 years ago.

Would you rather have Pruitt or Grantham right now?

Pruitt easily.

What? Your post is saying two different things.

You said yup like you agreed with me and then said I ignored the other factors for that season.

I answered the question you asked.

Gotcha.
Now, can you tell me what factors I am missing about 2013?

So after reading the first 3 pages, I gathered that Schotty went from NFL OC to College semi-OC with the HC being the real OC.
That's a hell of a fall.

Everyone makes choices. I'm sure he could have found a job in the NFL but chose to remain a coordinator.

1. Lacked experience.
2. Faced great passing qbs.
3. Got screwed by the targeting rule.
4. Got screwed by one of the luckiest plays of all time.
5. Got screwed by an awful punter/snapper situation.
6. Got screwed by some very odd punt team penalties.
7. O fell apart in October.

richt hasn't called plays since mid-november of 2006.
So, you've read wrong.

1. Being the oc of the Rams was a no win situation. Uga offers a better opp for advancement.
2. Richt is not the real oc.

O scored 19 vs neb, 20 vandy with a costly to late, 26 vs mizzou with 2 costly to's and a failed 2 pt play, forgot to play the first 3 q's vs au, and failed to score a clutch td inside the clemson 5. So as you can see, It's fair to give the o some blame.

I'll have a better post tomorrow but right off hand, 3, 4 and 6 have very little to nothing at all to us having an overall shitty D.
As for facing great passing qbs, who gives a shite. So did the rest of the SEC.
And after a quick search it looked like we returned 5 starters on D.
