think Georgia Tech’s 1990 NC was after winning the Citrus Bowl
Over a team ranked #19. Further proof of the joke of their claim that year.

I went as an 8th grader and didn’t miss school. The Sugar Bowl was played NYD on a Friday. School shouldn’t have been a problem for anyone.

The 1984 season was strange. BYU was undefeated and the only other option was 11-1 Washington. I believe it was the closest final ballot in AP history.
1990 split between Colorado and Georgia Tech was always interesting. Colorado won the Big 8 (a tough conference back then with Nebraska and oklahoma). Colorados non conference games were the champions of the SEC, SWC, Big Ten and Pac Ten. What a schedule.
Go look at November 1990. Something like 10 top five teams got beat in a three week period and Georgia Tech just ended up at No. 1.
