So in 1955 LSU > Tulane > Auburn, and if Tulane was "worth a shite back then", that would make Auburn...

Yes. It's right along the lines of having losing records against Cincinnati, Cumberland, Iowa, Rutgers, Sewanee, and a tie with Duke.
