read the title of the thread. we're talking about recruiting base here which means recruiting high school talent. 4 years of player development and getting drafted to the NFL is a whole nother story.

That is correct.

Tennessee has more average players with twice the population and while we just pull our average players from Texas. We both have the exact same talent when it comes to high school talent to the NFL.

You win in the SEC with NFL talent and Tennessee and Arkansas are pulling from the same within each states high schools to compete in the SEC.

I already told you Arkansas allowed spring practices, started real seven on seven campus and merged school districts. That has resulted in a greater pace of NFL talent more than Tennessee.

I'm glad you finally learned how stupid you looked using recruiting services who sell advertising of kids that haven't even played in college compared to the NFL.

If only the trend had stayed the same Tennessee would've had more but to bad that isn't true. Recent years Arkansas has put more in the NFL than Tennessee.

I know that really stings when Arkansas has 3 million less people than Tennessee. That's really pathetic just like Missouri.

Idaho is doing well for what they have.

That states population, or major lack there of, no minorities or cornfed linemen to pull from.

Arkansas has a major problem in Eastern Arkansas as does West Mississippi. There is a reason the Walton family just gave $34M to the Delta region as its to poor to even run athletics. Lots of talent is missing and it's sad.

Arkansas since putting effort into spring football and building in-state facilities there has been a change since 2005.

I'm laughing that Arkansas put more players in the NFL the last 5 years than a state of 3 million more.

Missouri and Tennessee are pathetic with their population bases.

Why has Arkansas put more players from our high schools into the NFL the past 4 years than Tennessee has theirs?

Also, we are at a 3 million population disadvantage. I guess kids in Tennessse don't like football as much?

Going the Miami route of star power of unproven kids labeled for advertising? Brilliant.

Why has Arkansas put more players from our high schools into the NFL the past 4 years than Tennessee has theirs?

Tennessee 6 Million
Arkansas 3 Million

I don't understand how Arkansas put more kids from our high schools into the NFL the past 4 years.. Help Tennessee fans.

Why is there ever a year Arkansas has more NFL players from our high schools than Tennessee? Much less a 4 year period with all that population boom you spouted.

You have twice the population yet go multiple years having less Homegrown NFL players than a neighbor state with half the population?

No wonder Tennessee started recruiting nationally that is Pathetic!

In State recruiting is improving dramatically. Tennessee's population will hit 7 million by the year 2019 to make things even better. But the State is very divided, especially Memphis and Middle TN. Memphis belongs to several teams and Middle TN has an avalanche of Tide fans and a considerable amount of Ole Miss and Auburn fans. So even with improved in-State talent, it will not do UT as much good as one would think.

This thread is ridiculous. Tennessee has a BCSNC and multiple SEC Championships. We don't.

We're better than they are right now, but until we win something substantial, Tennessee is obviously the better program. And who knows if we'll even still stay ahead of UT in the long term?

As far as recruiting goes: I'm going to wait a little while before I pass judgment. Sure, we're dead last in the SEC right now, and like #50 nationwide, but pretty much all of our recruits are quality, and several more good prospects are looking at us. Could be just a slow start. If we finish lowly in February with this staff of supposedly elite recruiters, well, then we're in trouble.
