what was alabama's preseason ranking this year. oh yeah, it doesn't matter because we play in the SEC where if you win you will move up real quick

Good answer. Personally I find it impossible to pull for a team and a coach attempting to steal recruits from the state of Louisiana and LSU. We're currently in a battle with Saban and Alabama for one of top recruits in the nation and LSU people feel compelled to root for Bama's success because of the SEC connection. Makes no sense to me.

Let me try to explain. Not saying you need to root for Bama, but do understand Bama's as well as every SEC team's success or failure outside the conference does have a direct impact on LSU in regard to BCS rankings which impact which team is chosen to play in the NC game.

Believe me, I'm not crying about Bama's loss last night, but I'm not foolish thinking it's best for the SEC and thus LSU to lose a BCS bowl game.

Bama is the one school in the SEC that I just can't find myself pulling for. I tried to last night, but as soon as Utah scored their first touchdown, I was yelling for the Utes.

I loathe Alabama with every fiber of my being and last nights win by the Utes was sweet.

Again...understand you don't need to root for Bama, just know that their loss last night does negatively affect LSU.

Respectfully disagree, 100%.

The Bama loss is the best thing for LSU.

1) It blows the Saban myth out of the water. LSU NEVER wants to be embarassed like that. Life will return to normal, and Miles can do his job w/ less crticism.

2) Recruits are doing a doubletake. Nothing like getting harassed by your peers about the school you've chosen. That game made Bama a laughingstock. Hurts them, helps us.

3) The fanbase paid him LSU money, because they wanted LSU results. No NC, No SEC, and next yr looks no better. So 4 yrs before anything to show? Believe me Saban's looking at his options. Away from the SEC.

I completely understand your rationale. Its well reasoned and in certain circumstances undeniably true.

But I believe LSU would be better served, in the long run, if Alabama became a less attractive place for Louisiana athletes to ply their trade.

Agree. The SEC will continue to be a dominant conference without depending on the Gumps to bolster the power rankings. In the meantime is RR passes on Bama due to the results of last night's game its a huge victory for LSU.
