Auburn is building so many new apartments it is killing the downtown area. They need to remodel the quad area and require freshman to live on campus. That would put a lot of apartment complexes and tow truck services out of business.

Welp... since I don't live in east cobb, I wouldn't know anything about that.

Not a fan of their sports programs, but al flaming aside, Auburn is a very nice town. Lots of quality growth has happened there over the past 15 years and continues to happen. I do think all the growth and the national chains that come with it have removed some of the charm that Auburn used to have but it is still easily one of the nicest towns in the SEC. it is consistently rated high as one of the South’s most liveable cities. And nearby Opelika has done a damn good job of improving its little downtown area.
There are still several trailer parks off Wire Road and off Highway 14, but the students who live there choose to. There is no shortage of apartments. If anything they have too many apartment complexes that have gone Section 8, or started appealing to too many students from Tuskegee. A decade ago several brand new complexes off of South College Street (on Longleaf, just a few miles from campus) were the place to be. Now, they’re home to a lot of crime and several deadly shootings in recent years.)
Downtown Athens is cool, but as far as the two cities compare overall Auburn is much nicer.

I realize this is a troll thread against Auburn, but, I can't help it. It looks okay to me. I mean for college kids? It looks fine just going by the pictures.
Sure, it looks okay if you just skim the surface. Dig a little deeper and you find out that some "students" have been living there since the 80's.
Meth is rampant and cows are led into the park at night and sexually assaulted.
Moonshine made from cow-patties flows like water and chants of "fambly, fambly, fambly" break out at random times throughout the night.
