When Auburn does finally get their scholorship numbers they will be an extremely heavy freshman and sophomore team. It's not just a mattter of having 85 on scholorship to be successful in the SEC. it's having 85 with a balance of fresh/soph/jr/sr to be competetive and 85 with heavy jr/sr numbers to have a shot at winning it all

You did good with the first part and I had high hopes for an intelligent fair post. than you just went to hell after that. Good attempt though thanks.

A pretty legit one, though. Except it has only been caused by people working for Auburn... not NCAA sanctions, etc. But still, a pretty dang good excuse.

Hell, if I was the NCAA I wouldn't even bother investigating Auburn. What more can they do to them? Even if Auburn brings in 25 in the fall they're looking at a max of 72 scholarship athletes this year. What's the NCAA going to do, hit them with a scholarship reduction?

Not necessarily.

Once we get back to around that 85 # in probably 2012 or 2013, we'll have a good bit of jr's from the 2010 class.

While I agree you do need a good mix of jr's and sr's to be succesful, many of these jr's in 2013 will have been starting for 2-3 years. Most sr's only really have a starting role for about 2-3 years anyway, so by the time 2014 rolls around, it'll be a team chock full of experienced sr's and jr's.

I'm not going to try to blame all of this on Tuberville. All I'll say is that our very low sr class count right now can be attributed to him and his last 2 years of recruiting. That being said, it's not like Chizik wants less players on the team than he can have. Those 5 guys that got kicked off the team, with the exception of Mosley, probably would have contributed relatively significantly this year. That falls under Chizik's watch. The rest of them that left hadn't seen much time on the field at all, with the exception of Curry who did play in a backup role last year. No coach in their right mind would want to put themselves in a worse position to win than possible with low scholarship #'s, but in another year or two with two more classes, we'll be in a great spot, imo.
