I am willing to bet I know more about Alabama football than you do. Compare the rosters of the two. Losing in both cases is embarrassing but the reasons for losing are obvious. black and white. Auburn did not even have the talent to strike back in anger against NMST. Meanwhile Shula was doing okay at roster management. Despite how bad it was he nearly nabbed Tebow for crying out loud. Bama had a higher baseline in talent. Auburn didnt. Auburn should be able to beat 2* players on vanilla but they couldn't even muster the strength to push back.
Alabama had these quality players on their rosters
Simeon Castille
Rashad Johnson
Rolando McLain
Brandon Deadrick
Wallace GilBerry
Kareem Jackson
Andre Smith
DJ Hall
Matt Caddell
Javier Arenas
and so on.
Who did Auburn have as their stud impact players this year? DJ Hall is probably Saban's worst number one receiver but he was a 1000 yard receiver then. Auburn has never experienced that. I am not even sure we had a Caddell this year.

What a fricking joke of a lie.
Nick Saban’s 2007 Alabama team was the first Bama team in over 40 years to not have a single player drafted in the subsequent NFL draft.
How many times has that happened at Auburn?
ETA: Rolando and Kareem were Saban signees.

I am willing to bet I know more about

Take a look at recruiting rankings dating back to 2020. Look at who was left on Auburn's roster from Harsin's first class. One player.
If you are so fricking dumb to believe that a W-L record is the only way to measure improvement in a program, then I'm sure you really believe that NAIA coach was the guy Bama wanted all along.

All I know is this “measured improvement” you guys have continued to parrot wasn’t a talking point after the NMST game. Is that last second loss to Bama the lone source for this bravado? Or is it a combination of the Bama loss and Hugh landing a few recruits?

He was either the guy Bama wanted all along, or Greg Byrne is the best AD in the history of college athletics. Lmk.

No. I just told you, dummy.

Neither one. You'll see soon enough.

quote:So, do you have better players today or worse? If they are worse, what has Freeze improved and how are you on the "incline". If they are better AND you just went 6-7 with a 31-10 curb-stomping from NM St, how are you on the "incline"?
Look at who was left on Auburn's roster from Harsin's first class. One player.
quote:You mean the guy that took Washington from 4-8 (before he was hired) to the National Championship runner up in 2 years? During this last season he beat Texas that beat the SEC Champion Alabama? This is the guy you speak of? Has Freeze done anything close to that? Not sure he was the "first choice" all along. Can say that the University of Alabama could teach the US Military much in the way of Operational Security (OPSEC).
I'm sure you really believe that NAIA coach was the guy Bama wanted all along.
How many coaches is the barn currently paying to not coach? Fans of the barn giving advice about hiring coaches is like the guy paying alimony, child support and house payments to 4 ex-wives trying to give someone else marital advice.

They both took L's against LAMO. That team was heads and shoulders better top to bottom. McClain committed to Shula first!

I listed a shite ton of future NFL players on that team. Where is Auburn's?
Find me Auburn's Wallace Gilberry, Josh Chapman, Brandon Deadrick, Simeon "water covers 70% of the earth, I cover the rest" Castille, Javier Arenas, etc
Find these quality pieces.

He didn't run off anyone. The portal was open for us and basically no one else and the world of college football now is everybody is making payments and the rest have their hands out.
Deboer was a successful coach who took his team to the college football playoff in his second year. That's a far cry from anything harsin accomplished. Plus, DeBoer is already proving he's a better recruiter than Harsin by a large margin. Recruits are already about to commit, and that includes Ryan Williams.

I guess I’m just confused about the weird level of hypocrisy.
You guys are on the heels of 3 straight losing seasons, got blown out by NMST at home, got blown out by Maryland in your bowl game, and just had to replace multiple coaches on your staff. Your head coach is a guy who, in 12 years as a HC at the D1 level, has lost fewer than 4 games three times (0.250).
But we should be upset at replacing the greatest coach of all time with a guy who just played for a national championship, and even with the departures on the roster will be inheriting one of the Top 3 rosters in the SEC?
Explain it to me like I’m quadruple vaxed.

Are you feeling okay bruh, what advice is being given? Do tell.
Also, all I have?
It's what you got. No advice, just stating my opinion. Your coach will have his chance to prove me wrong. If the Bama fan base gives him the chance that is.
