The NCAA doesn't recognize national championships. ncaa.com is run by turner sports and what you're talking about is a list some editor there has put together. It changes all the time.
It's better now than it has been in the past. At least they aren't listing UCF for 2017 anymore. But they still lists a good bit of bogus claims.
But if I was to make a list for them, I'd put 1908 on there is LSU claimed it.

It has to do with allegations of LSU paying a player (Doc Fenton). The allegations were made by Tulane. LSU was eventually cleared of any wrong-doing by the SIAA but the accusations stopped them from being voted as national champs. The 1908 Tigers are, however, retroactively considered co-national champions.

When Bama loses to Indiana we will all laugh! No hardware or rings to speak of! Another wasted season in Bama eyes and continued head coach on the hot seat rumors! No National title for 5 years! So how many times has AU finished #1 in the final AP poll compared to their “9 NCs” ?
for comparative purposes Bama has been ranked #1 in 141 AP polls but has only 12 AP NCs, for a percentage of only 8.5%
