we heard about how Franklin County (Russellville and near Hackleburg)

I carried a P/U with water, soft drinks, ice, and canned meats to Hackleburg yesterday morning. I just dumped it in a church parking lot. All the roads are closed off going through the town. I heard of some church on Hwy 253 that had a collection center going. You can drop your donations and the locals will take it into town. From what I hear, it does sound like they're being left out of the loop.

We couldn't get to Hackleburg on US 43. State troopers had us go back to Ala 187 up to Belgreen to Ala 24 and then over to Russellville. Road out of Phil Campbell to Hackleburg didn't look too promising.

When we turned around on 43 we saw a church service being held out side. Touching and heartbreaking all at once.

That's where I unloaded. We probably passed each other.

I sent six cases of water yesterday to TTown. Maxwell Air Force was going up there so I gave them the water. I would have given more, but I'm driving down to Louisiana, to see my mom. I will leave this Saturday and the gas prices are going to eat me up. My mom lives in Baton Rouge and she is 83. At least I get to spend Mothers Day with her. I also need to get the wife out of here because she's an emotional wreck because of her brother's death. I told her if there is a heaven, he's up there because he tried to save a young mother and her child. She really lost it when the two guys who found the bodies of the three, they had a hard time getting his arm away from the young mother. They said that he apparently was holding mother and child extremely tight. They had a hard time getting his body off on top of the young mother. I didn't tell my wife, but I bet rigormortus(sp) set in. I could only wish that I was half of a man that he was when he died.

Again, I'm sorry for yalls losses. I hope the heroic actions and the fact he tried to save lives helps your wife and family find some comfort, knowing he tried to save lives

Thank you all for remembering the small towns which got wiped out. Those poeple need every thing . Many have nothing left but their faith. And I promise you that anything that you can do, they will appreciate it.
