What's even more sickening is all the Auburn fans trying to rationalize it.

I am not rationalizing anything...i dont pray or belive in it.
I think it is funny how riled up it gets you that our coaches pray with our recruits in our stadium.

The coaches pray with the players before and after every practice and game. Maybe it was a habit to Trooper to pray before they left the field as they always do. How do we know that these recruits weren't at a bowl practice and they prayed with the team? I just find it amazing that you would call into question the faith of a person over a situation where you don't have all of the facts. How about you superman? How well do you know the Lord? Should we question your faith and motive over this thread, even though we don't know you?

maybe you need Christ in your life?

Not as well as I should.

If that's what you choose to do, then you are misunderstanding the point of this thread.
I do not have a problem with coaches praying with players. We pray with our high school team every single day that we are together.
This is different, because recruits are not a part of the team. They are not around the coaches every single day, and have not known the coaches - in most cases - for extended periods of time (2+ years)
At the very least, this is a recruiting violation for gameday simulations. At very worst - it's misusing the sacred act of prayer to impress a recruit or recruits.
Either way, it bothers me.

The more the better.
This thread has nothing to do with questioning faith in Christ. It has to do with misusing that faith to gain an advantage in recruiting.

I love it when Christinas they know the best way for ppl to use their faith...like there is a do and do not book out there.

I tend to believe Christ wouldn't mind the AU players/Coaches/recruits praying in the least bit....

Well there are several scripture references to misusing prayer and such.

Of course not. However, He might mind just a little bit if Trooper was doing it not for the spiritual well-being of the recruits, but for his own advantage in recruiting. Don't you think?

Which one says "thou shall not pray with recruits"?

How arrogant of you to think you know what your God wants or feels.
And do you know TT personally that you can make such an assumption as to his intentions when speaking to God?

It doesn't. What it does say, though, is that you should not pray just to be heard by men, and to not pray in order to impress people.

Trooper is so refreshing.....will lead you in prayer one minute, then politely tell you to "go bust that mother f$@*er in the mouth"

Which draws me to this question. Do you know his true intent? One should guard against raising misleading allegations against God and his children...

Scripture is pretty clear on the matter, IMO.

When was this said? Do you have video or quotes that Trooper said that?

No, but it's pretty easy to infer. Perhaps that's wrong of me, but I am having a hard time buying it - only because of the manner in which it was done. If he had taken Swain into his office and offered to prayed for him or his family - I wouldn't have started this thread.

I have not raised any misleading allegation against God, and Scripture tells us very clearly that if a "brother in Christ" is doing something wrong, we are not to stand by and let him continue, but to call him out so he can see fault in himself.
Maybe I should have called him personally before starting this thread.
Still doesn't change the way I feel about it I don't guess.
