two things

1 does your Coaches show break down plays and show the minutia of football, this stuff is fascinating to watch on Petrinos show...we couchQBs have no clue whats really going on

2 Petrino and crew alot of the time knew exactly what you guys were going to do before you did it by formations and personnel from film study. It was impressive to see the keys being pointed out and dissected.

He broke down several good plays on offense and several on D, a few stuck out

The 92 yard run by Joe, Lemonier had been cheating down all game and on first down Auburn always came with a strong side scrape blitz, Petrino pointed out that when you scrape blitz on one side the other side is automatically supposed to contain outside not cheat down, Petrino called the play hoping they would run the blitz again on first down, they did and Joe took it to the house

The personal foul was number 25 bumping and jawing a ref as he ran down the sideline.

On Kiehl's last pick, Tramain Thomas recognize the formation and the potential wheel route by Lutz before Kiehl even transferred to throw by film study. He broke on the route top before Frazier had thrown the ball and it had no chance.

Pretty cool to watch a coach break it down

I think the point was all coaches break things down but Petrino lets the fans see a little of it on his show...

I don't want to know what Les does in his spare time.

Yes and quickly made me realize I don't know shite. Learn a lot from it, though.

yeah his coaches show is pretty cool to watch. no fluff just him standing at a TV breaking down offensive and defensive plays from the game.

I like Petrino's approach to his coach's show. Lets me know how much I don't know. Also makes me feel very comfortable in his ability to break down an opponent and put together a game plan.

I know most every coach at the D-1 level (and at most at any college level) can see those things, so Petrino is certainly not the only person who can recognize those things, but I like that he'll let us MMQBs know a little about what they're keying on and how it affects how they call a game and make adjustments.

In the end, it's my opinion that this level of detail and preparation makes for a much more consistent and better prepared team. We go into games leaning on preparation and keys learned through film study and repetition, and not relying on emotion to carry us.

That shite obviously works on the Chiz - but I think you need a new breakdown guy against the Coach Saban. 0-5?

Watching Petrino's show puts you in your place when it comes time to breaking down game film.

I've never claimed X's and O's as a strength of mine, and I understand that most all coaches can spit out the lingo and break down film, but after about 30 seconds of listening to Petrino describe what I would refer to as a simple QB sneak, I might as well have just turned on a rocket science lecture. I never knew how football retarded I was until I watched him go over film.

Yes we know. It seems like we always turn it on after that game. I wish we didn't open SEC play with Bama. Hopefully we won't going forward

I think Arkansas fans are still a little shocked to see a real coach after what we had for the 10 years prior.

The show used to be all fluff, cheerleading, pep-talk bullshite.

And maybe him being so in tune with the most extreme fine details, he misses out on big picture items.

"Hey coach, that's an awesome play but has anyone told you lately that Ronnie Wingo sucks?"

Maybe? I dunno.

exactly

another cool thing is the shows Petrino knowledge about all things football...the ease of Jarius Wright Td in the corner was mainly due to bad footwork by the cornerback. Petrino pointed out that the receivers job is to jab his feet 3 times and stabs the last one to push off the outside and release, the cornerback spread his legs instead of just turning and going...Petrino said, 'cornerback spread his feet, he is done, easy play for Jarius'

Did you catch these Petrino comments.

Auburn's "little bunch huddle" that they like to do from time to time and the Hogs stuffed it.

When KF threw his second interception Petrino noted the formation and the area and player where the QB usually throws out of that formation. On that play Petrino also noted that Auburn's QB "read defenses" very little.

I know some Tiger Fans will be pissed when they read this but it's true. Gus doesn't teach his QBs to read defenses and that is why they call all the audibles from the sidelines.

Auburn Fans are witnessing two things.

1. Without the best college player, arguably in the history of college football, Gus' offense is, well, high school looking based on smoke and mirrors and a “how can we fool them” philosophy.

2. The more SEC defensive coordinators see Gus' smoke and mirrors offense the easier it is to stop because it’s nothing more than a little trick play here, a little smoke and mirror there. It isn’t based on sound football principles and execution but rather “how can we trick them”, nothing more.

And you Paper Tigers don’t use youth as an excuse. Your coaching staff has had plenty of time to build depth especially since auburn has had all these “great” recruiting classes since Chizik arrived. Get used to what you are seeing because it will be the norm and I only hope Auburn promotes Gus to the Head Coach in waiting. You do that and you may never win another SEC game again except against the likes of State, Ole Miss and Vandy.
