At what point does CFB hire GMs at each program?

I’m glad to see Saban go, but it is a concern that NIL and portal played a factor in his departure.

I think a lot of coaches are upset about the state of CFB and how fluid it is. Coaches are doing more roster management and GM business than ever, and it must be exhausting to keep things together.

What team do you think hires a full time GM to handle those duties, like an NFL team does? That would be a big perk to allow a coach to just recruit and coach again rather than handle retention and NIL as well.

Once a football subdivision is created separate from current conferences.

I mean shite, sounds like Saban trying to be the first one. Still interested to see his role moving forward. The man doesn’t have it in his DNA to untether completely.

Some schools already have a “GM”, but it’s more like the college “Director of Player Personnel” role than it is an NFL GM.

I’ve been saying since the transfer portal started, programs would be wise to have a football GM that is essentially the AD over just football.

There’s no way an AD can manage a big time football program + all other sports effectively at this point. Way too much going on with CFB alone.
