What is the building to the right of it in the first pic?

Expensive assed condos.
FWIW, The Gin was a legendary bar dating back decades. Many a panties have been thrown onto the stage of that bar.
Lots of tears shed over it burning down.
I've heard stories about that place that you could only dream about........and some that you probably read in Dear Penthouse.

If those are condos across the street and that was a single story, run down vacant bar, you can bet this wasn't a natural fire.

There is no doubt that foul play was involved. I believe that they have been wanting to develop that land for some time, but the owner of the Gin wouldn't sell. Very suspect

Just sold recently.
But I agree with the foul play part. That lot is worth a shite TON of money.

The article in the DM said that he was looking to re-open it and had people lined up to lease it. Who knows.

Nah, that is just a bonus reason. I love SF Giants baseball as much as I do Alabama football. Lincecum and Cain are my boys. Can't wait for the season to get here. Kruk and Kuip FTW.

This. And the fact that there was no electricity coming into the build, i'd have to say that's another red flag.

The quote from the DM is just a Red Herring....
Oh wells.
Here's to higher property values.

My dad and uncles are deeply disturbed and upset that the Gin has burned down.

I heard it burned down a couple of weeks ago and was confused because I walked by it during football season. The place was boarded up and basically parts had collapsed. Is/Was the owner a black guy named Daryl(??).
Man I had some great memories there and many a drinks. Penny Pitchers, $10 all you can drink, etc.

Not sure who owns it now, but one of my best friends from high school/college dad owned it and sold it a couple of years ago.
