I dont know because it was before my time, but I know conference champions from the 1950's and 1960's were not automatically invited to the NCAA tournament like they are today. Auburn was not the only SEC champion from the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's to be left out of the NCAA tournament
Why did you refuse to answer my question about other schools hiring a private detective to get LSU on probation?

Are you kidding? Most of those points in that list would apply to gumps like you more than me or any other Auburn fan
sensitivity to criticism- Gumps cannot tolerate anybody criticizing their school. Any rival fan who says boo immediately gets banned from all gump message boards. The ten thousand gumps on this board like you only started posting here in the first place because people on the tiger rant were saying negative or derogatory things sbout your school and you cannot tolerate any criticism
tendency to blaming- The gumps never had a problem that didnt blame or try to blame on somebody else like the NCAA, Auburn, or Tennessee
Feelings of persecution- the gumps constantly complian about the whole world hating them and being out to get them
LOL No.

I'm beginning to think CC uses these articles as a masturbatory aid.

Unless their school was on probation, they were.

Sure,it'd make me mad. But I'm not going to dig up some 51 yr old story, especially if my team did get put on probation, anyway. So its spiffy to cheat if no one rats you out ?

I checked the NCAA database. I cannot find any proof that Auburn's basketball program was put on probation in the 1950's. Since you are the person making that allegation, the responsibility falls on you to privide some proof to back it up.
LSU fans cry for days, weeks, months, or even years about a referee's call going against their team. I could not imagine how long LSU fans would cry if a rival school hired private investigators to get LSU on probation. It might even be 51 years
quote:A 51 year old story might be irrevelant completely on its own, but I thought it was appropriate in light of all the gumps who constantly cry on this board about everybody else trying to get their school on probation

Auburn couldn't go to the NCAA's in 1960 because the football team was on probation.

According to Charles Goldberg, the beat writer for Auburn Sports in the Birmingham News, Auburn football was on probation in 1960 (stemming from recruiting violations according to the NCAA database) - which prevented the Basketball team from going to the tournament. LINK

This.

YOU have kept his alive. All I said was the football probation carried over to basketball.
What can't you understand ? Investigators or not, Auburn GOT CAUGHT CHEATING AND HAD TO PAY FOR IT !
You think Geoff Beard or Shug just picked up the phone and called Kansas City and said 'fellas,we may have done something wrong ' ?

As I said earlier, LSU fans cry for days, weeks, months, or even years about a referee's call going against their school. You will never convince me that they would not be irate about a rival school hiring private investigators to get them on probation

What does this have to do with Auburn cheating?
Posted on 7/8/09 at 12:44 pm to superman
It has to do with hypocrisy. Gumps like you complain about other schools trying to your school on probation, but the gumps have been trying to get Auburn on probation forever.

Tell you what: give me the link to an Auburn board and I'll make a post about the Cotton Bowl suckering LSU in 1969 and we'll se how well received it is by the Auburn faithful.

I think the correct phrase to describe our reaction to your private investigators, rumor mongering, etc... would be "laughing and rolling our eyes". There was a thread about this yesterday. The first couple of times it happened, it angered some of us. Once we realized that these rumors would be popping up on a weekly basis - we started laughing at you guys for being so pathetic.

Here is a link to an Auburn board LINK The Auburn fans would probably take your posts as business as usual considering how much LSU fans complain about other calls from the referees going against their school

Ding Ding Ding. That goes back to the "feelings of being persecuted" in the Inferiority Complex chart.
