I think Petrino will have a more consistently succesful team there than Nutt ever did (assuming he stays more than 3 years).

Facilities are not even close to being the end all be all. Fayetteville is a hard place to recruit guys out of state from. Recruiting is the biggest issue by far and it's something Arkansas has lacked since joining the SEC in terms of compared to other programs in the SEC. Hence why you have dropped off since the SWC days. It's really as simple as that.
Fayetteville is not as bad as you say. NWA has become much more diverse and offers more than you say. Historically, the hardest thing to do was to get a recruit to Fayetteville for a visit, once you get the recruit here it is a much easier sell than you make it. The challenge has been getting the recruits here.
Since AR joined the SEC, we've had Jack Crowe, Danny Ford and Houston Nutt as our coaches, that plays a lot into the struggles AR had. JFB continually meddled with the coaches and interfered too. Jeff Long does not interfere like JFB does.
Let's take LSU for instance. You mostly struggled in the 90's, 80's etc... Enter Saban, it took him a few seasons to build the program and then you had very good success. Without Saban, LSU is just another mediocre program that may put together a good team every decade or so.
AR has the tools necessary to improve the program and play on the national stage, it is not and will not be the bottom-dweller you say it is.

Not saying Fayetteville is a bad place at all, just is hard to get guys to come there. Although as far as college places go in the SEC I'd say it's in the 7th-8th range.

I see everyone keeps pointing out the 90s (we did fine in the 80s). We were down for ONE decade and that's it. It's not like this has been an entirety for us in the conference like it has been for Arkansas. I think Nutt is a pretty good coach and continued to prove that this year at Ole Miss. I just think Arkansas fans wanted a change of scenery after a decade of Nutt.
Everyone acts like we're only where we are because of Saban, acting like we had no history previous to this and that's simply not the case as we're one of the top 15 (arguably Top 10) programs of all time whichever way you want to measure it. Who's to say Miles doesn't come here and build us up starting in 2000? Saban is a very good coach but so is Miles. Miles built the foundation of success at Oklahoma State. He could of done that here too. He's certainly continued to have great success at LSU.
The bottom line is this 90s nonsense needs to stop. You can't act like because we went down for 1 decade in the 8 decades we've been in the SEC as proof Arkansas is just down (for the only 2 decades they've been in the conference) and with the right guy can become a national power. We're in 2 very different situations as far as recruiting goes. LSU has had much success prior to and after the 90s in the SEC.

Never said you are a "bottom dweller" but I do believe Arkansas will be consistently with Bottom 6 of the SEC (not last) and not the Big 6. And the simple reason for that is recruiting. Once again, not saying you'll never have a good year here and there. Just on a consistent basis you'll be down there with the other guys outside of LSU, AU, Bama, UF, UT and UGA. I have seen nothing in terms of recruiting that will change that in the any foreseeable future and have seen no past consistent success in the conference that will change that either.
