re: Arkansas fans, more bad blood? Houston Nutt (2008 OM) or Bobby Petrino (2013 AU)

I disliked Ole Miss post-Nutt because they all told us we were stupid and needed to check ourselves for firing a coach that had taken us to a few SECCGs and had "so much" sucess. We had just fired the best coach we have/ever will have. Then they beat us a couple years in a row and ran their mouths, again, about what a bad decision it was to fire Nutt. It was tough coming from the perennial dormat of the SEC.

As far as Petrino is concerned, I'll always harbor some ill will towards the man, but like a previous poster said he showed we can compete on the big stage and go to BCS which wil help our program tremendously going forward. What happened is just sad and pathetic... and so fricking avoidable. Anyway, i wish him well, but would be lying if i said i didn't care if he was in the SEC (West). I just assume he go coach in Boulder or Berkley.

Nope. Everything listed was during the Petrino era.

I find it amazing that AU is considering Petrino...
The program is willing to hold its nose and do anything for a shot at quick success.

I personally like Bob Petrino more than Nutt. In typing that, I realize that makes little sense. Let me see if I can explain it.

Nutt is like the kid who cheats at everything, monopoly, checkers, basketball, etc. He's the squirrely douche on the basketball court who always calls touch-fouls in a pick-up game.

There's just something about him that screams for someone to kick his stupid, whiny, sorry arse.

I was always waiting for the next little smart remark or un-funny jab to come out of Nutt's mouth. He's a pussy, and a complete douche, and nobody you'd ever want to be around, ever.

Petrino isn't a good person. He's an adulterer, and a liar, and all of this other shite. But, he's also good at something, and I admire that. Petrino's personal life and the way he treats people is sorry as frick. But when it came to talking about a recruit or the team, I never felt like Bobby was full of shite. I didn't like him, but I respected him.

I never liked OR respected Nutt. Nutt is and always will be a petty little bitch. Bobby probably won't ever say a thing about Arkansas. He'll just move on and do his thing.

I don't see the two situations as being all that similar. The bad blood with Nutt was mostly about wanting to see the person you hate get what they really deserve.

Bobby has been humiliated plenty, plus there's still a modicum of respect, at least for his coaching acumen. I have zero respect for Houston Nutt. He's a fricking cartoon character.
