Did Hootie occasionally over-achieve at Arkansas? No. Though many times he was inconsistent and under-achieved. I didn't even really see much of that pattern until his third year at Arkansas (2000).
He's done ok so far at Ole Miss. I agree. He chose to not perform at a consistently high level while at Arkansas. What Hootie's capable of achieving and what he perhaps achieves can be two totally different things. I will commend him on always being prepared for Texas, LSU, and being able to motivate like none other. Hootie does have some good qualities but that's not what killed the deal.
